What happened to all of that talk? What happened to W's boost from Reagan's death (ONE important death not the 872 not so important ones in Iraq)?
Remember how it was going to be the "Summer of Bill" and Kerry would be hard pressed to get any attention as the mega-ego of Bill would sieze all the spot light and the book/his life would be all that anyone would be talking about? The book release just couldn't have come at a worse time for Kerry or so we were told.
Kerry "wasn't making up any ground" on Bush even though he was leading in every national poll and had an outright lead in half the "battleground states".
Well Bill's book is still is #1 on the New York Times list

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/549066/104-6703819-2196703But then as the astute Candy Crowley pointed out on CNN last night Kerry had "a hard time sort of breaking through the national headlines" the last few months (as if he wanted to and failed)
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0407/06/asb.00.htmlBROWN: And we did not hear at all, did we today, from Senator Edwards? He showed his face and that was it?
CROWLEY: No. This was -- you know, it's interesting. This is -- as you know, Senator Kerry has had a hard time sort of breaking through the national headlines. There's been so much going on in Iraq and up on the Hill with the 9/11 Commission, that sort of thing. So, they're kind of soaking this sunlight up. So, today was a day where we got the news and Kerry was solo, and so was John Kerry -- I'm sorry, John Edwards, but Edwards didn't say anything.
Tomorrow we're finally going to get a picture of the two of them together, even though they are together now up at Mrs. Heinz-Kerry's farm. So, they're kind of spreading this out, so tomorrow they're hoping to get sort of more stories off of this and then push into the weekend trying to make -- get as much bounce as they can off the announcement.
BROWN: Candy, thank you. Candy Crowley in Pittsburgh tonight.
I am glad we are all still able to breath
