Will the "liberal" talking point against Edwards backfire?
The right has spent a couple decades and hundreds of millions of dollars to (successfully) demonize the term liberal. And now they're going all out making it clear that Edwards is this huge liberal....but everyone, even moderate republicans, really like Edwards, so won't this have the opposite effect they're hoping for? Basically undoing all the negative work they've done?

1. well, since Edwards
is not especially liberal, it could have the effect of drawing the center further right.

2. They've used it so much it's lost its potency
It means nothing anymore. Tired, unimaginative talking point from ideologically and morally bankrupt spinmeisters.

3. At least with me it has backfired big time. He is a LIBERAL PATRIOT.
I am a LIBERAL PATRIOT. The DEMOCRATS ARE LIBERAL PATRIOTS. We want a good economy and protection for everybody's rights.
I AM LIBERAL AND PROUD.
Time to clean the stigma and slime they have poured over the liberal name!!!

4. I think you need only ask Howard Dean that question.
Howard Dean is my hero. He stood up and shouted out against this corrupt administration when no one else had the guts. And lo and behold! Americans listened. He became their icon for a while. Because he was saying, loud and clear, what they had been thinking, all along.

And now, you ask if "liberal" will be a dirty word? I say who cares? It's not a dirty word, apparently, to millions of Americans, who back Kerry and who backed Dean. WE ARE THE MAJORITY, people, don't you understand that? But we've spent the past decade sitting on our asses, hoping the other guys do the right thing (because, we reason, it's what WE would do in their places). NOW, we have woken up and realized that they won't do the right thing; and that if we want the right thing done, we are going to have to get up off of our lazy butts and do it ourselves.

The only reason that the Pukes came into power is because they had a very efficient get-out-the-vote machine. And, in the 2000 presidential election, when that didn't work, they cheated. But guess what? We caught them and we won't get fooled again. As Ann Richards said, "When Democrats vote, they win."

Yes, they do.
