It may be time to reassess Clarence Thomas.
He sided with the First Amendment in the internet porn case.

He sided with the liberal wing against a car loan company.

The jury is still out. But he may be growing in office.

1. Growing like a Colonic Tumor?
Maybe. First off, Slappy has a soft spot for porn and so being denied Internet Pron was likely a personal issue with personal repercussion.

Since Slappy alwasy does what he's told, a few minor, non-significant instances of rebellion mean little.

This SDtooge will lick his Master's Boots every time they ask.

I don;t believe it for a second! Not one second!

Slappy has always been a corrupt puppet and he always will be the same.

18. Maybe the case was super-obvious, or maybe he only sided with the
little guy in that case because he saw how the rule would help the big guy in every other case.

4. He also helped install an illegal regime against the wishes of the...
...American people, and for this he gets no forgiveness. I don't care how much pandering to the left on single issues he does for the positive press, he will always be one of those directly responsible for the horrible damage that is being currently inflicted on our country.

26. a helluva lot
that sorry POS from PinPoint, GA wouldn't be where he is without affirmative action which is something he fought against under Reagan and continues to rail and decide cases against now!

He was/is definitely not the best or the brightest, despite Poppy saying he was the best on the lawn at Kennebunkport. He had no real legal experience and there were ample, more qualified African American jurists who could have been tapped for the nation's highest court.

The best testimony about and against him was Thurgood Marshall (now there was a MAN) who said of Thomas at the time: " a snake is a snake .."

13. Are you SERIOUS???? The jury was in long, long ago.
Thomas is the worst right wing piece of shit on the court. He's much more ideologically reliable than even Scalia. Scalia talks more and has a higher profile, but Thomas is pure right wing evil.

The only vote to allow Chimp to hold Americans without any rights and you think the jury is out???? Pleeze!

Here are the sumamries. . . if you want the full bloody text, go to:

http://www.supremecourtus.gov/opinions/03slipopinion.html

Rasul v Bush - Habeas Corpus does not extend to prisoners being held overseas, or being held outside the jurisdiction of the US Court System.

Handi v Rumsfeld - The President is within his Constitutional rights to determine who is and who is not an "enemy combatant" and thus, detainable for whatever amount of time and under whatever conditions the President himself sees fit.

United States v Patane - Evidence can be admitted into a prosecution if it was obtained from a suspect, even if that suspect was not Mirandized before being arrested.

Supreme Court deals Congress setback on Internet porn law
Jun 29, 2004
By Tom Strode
WASHINGTON (BP)--The U.S. Supreme Court has dealt Congress another setback in its effort to protect children from Internet pornography.

The high court ruled June 29 in a 5-4 vote that a federal judge was correct in blocking enforcement of the Child Online Protection Act, a 1998 law that bans commercial Web sites from making sexually explicit material available to children under the age of 17. The justices sent the case back to the court for a full trial.

Joining Kennedy in the majority opinion on Ashcroft v. ACLU were associate Justices John Paul Stevens, David Souter, Clarence Thomas and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Thomas’ vote was something of a surprise, since he is normally regarded as one of the court’s two most conservative members. Associate Justice Antonin Scalia is the other.

Associate Justice Stephen Breyer, joined by Chief Justice William Rehnquist and Associate Sandra Day O’Connor, wrote a dissenting opinion, as did Scalia.

Bill Press: The return of Long Dong Silver

July 5, 2001 Posted: 12:35 PM EDT (1635 GMT)

By BIll Press
Tribune Media Services

WASHINGTON (Tribune Media Services) -- Ten years ago, after calling Anita Hill a liar, Clarence Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court. Ten years later, we finally learn that Clarence Thomas was lying -- and Anita Hill was telling the truth.

The truth about Thomas’s lies is told in David Brock’s new book, “Blinded by the Right," due out in September. This month’s issue of “Talk” magazine features a long excerpt. It recounts Brock’s ethical struggles as a writer. But, more importantly, it provides valuable insight into how the powerful right-wing media machine twists and dominates the news.

Brock’s the perfect man to expose Thomas’ lies, because he’s the one who spread them. As a darling, young acolyte of the conservative right, Brock was recruited by the "American Spectator" magazine in October of 1991 to write a feature article denouncing Hill and rehabilitating the badly-wounded Thomas.

Senate confirmation hearings had left Thomas a new, but disgraced, member of the court. In her testimony, Hill calmly told Senators how her then-boss Thomas exploited and harassed female workers. He told dirty jokes. He graphically described pornographic videos he had rented, including the now-famous “Long Dong Silver.” Perhaps inspired by “Long Dong”, he bragged about the size of his own penis. He begged for dates. He even accused Hill of leaving pubic hairs on his can of Coca-Cola. Nice guy.

21. Did you catch his dissent on the detention cases?
He essentially argued that the President can lock up anyone for as long as he wants, all he has to do is put on the ruby slippers and say 'terra' three times.

IIRC the vote was 8-1.

28. yeah, wouldn't you love it
if he got pulled over by some racist cops in rural GA (his native home, for example) with his white wife.

And when he said: BUT I'm a Supreme Court Justice, blah, blah, blah ...

They replied: Sure, nig--h, we're taking you in until we can verify this fucking shit with the SUE PRIME COAT .... he, he, he!
Then they hold his sorry as indefinitely.

32. I know
but I can dream...

The sad part, too, is that he has to know that situations like this happen even if he has somehow escaped such trauma. Yet he feels and knows no empathy or understanding.

Like most black parents, I have had to teach my son "police etiquette." Still, I always worry. My white friends are shocked when I speak of MY FEAR OF POLICE, something that is foreign to them. And apparently to Clarence too. He just doesn't care.
