Hope.
When I got out of bed at 6:00 AM yesterday morning, I fired up Mozilla Firefox, and there...on CNN's front page...was the headline "Kerry Picks Edwards."
Underneath the headline was a photo of a smiling John Kerry, giving the "thumbs up"...standing next to a smiling John Edwards, waving to the crowd.
No smirking. I don't think either man knows how.
No flag-waving. They don't need to. Their true patriotism comes off of them in waves. I said to myself in a very matter-of-fact manner "these men are going to run our country for the next four years."
George W. Bush has left a bruised, but NOT defeated middle class in his wake. All across our nations are husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters who will not be coming home again because of his occupation of Iraq. For Christians such as myself, he has distorted and corrupted the world view of what a Christian is...I have NEWS for you, folks...we never got together and selected him as our spokesperson.
He, along with Dick Cheney, have gone to great lengths to prove that chest-thumping bravado, character assasination, lies and unrepentant arrogance are THEIR "new world order." They have alienated those who were once our allies, and those who were sitting on the fence...well, they just knocked them right off, onto the "Anti-America" side.
Yesterday at 6:00 AM I sat at the computer for a moment with my cup of coffee. I opened a new tab in Firefox, went to
http://www.johnkerry.com, made a donation, and signed up as a volunteer. My Web Sites will both have Kerry banners and links on them by the end of this week. I will keep looking for ways to contribute my time, my talents, my passion to the effort behind Senators Kerry and Edwards.
George W. Bush cannot take that away from me. It is my heartfelt wish that he will not be able to take it away from any of you, either.
