http://www.electionguide04.com/straw_poll.adp

Kerry: 57% popular, 431 Electoral

Bush: 41% popular, 107 Electoral

Bush lost North Carolina since yesterday (I wonder why?), and gained North and South Dakota, for a net loss of 9 electoral votes...
I guess Edwards isn't liked in the Dakotas...

1. Kerry has lost the "bald vote"
per Teresa today after Kerry joked about also having a running mate "with hair". So I guess Dakotans tend to be bald. :)

4. South Dakota is curious.
South Dakota has 2 Democratic Senators, and its one Congressperson (Stephanie Herseth) is a Democrat, but the map shows South Dakota as a "Safe Bush" state.

They also show Wisconsin leaning towards Bush.

7. Local vs. national dynamics
It happens. Hey, Maine has two GOP Senators. There are respected Dems in the Sen. from NE and ND. Both of Louisiana's senators are Dems. The pieces don't always fit how we might expect.
