Byrd Watching - Losing America: Confronting a Reckless ...
and Arrogant Presidency by Sen. Robert Byrd (to be released very soon).

:hi:

I was planning on ordering this book from Barnes & Noble. However, when I went back to their site to order it, it was gone! I searched around, finally found it and noted that it now says it is no longer available. I guess a couple of the reviewers were less than thrilled by Byrd's * "bashing".

However, another reviewer had this to say about it:

<< A ringing call to action by one of the country's longest serving and most respected legislators.

In the months and years following September 11, Senator Robert C. Byrd has viewed with alarm what he considers to be a "slow unraveling of the people's liberties," when all dissenting voices were stilled and awesome power swung suddenly to the president to fight a "war on terror."

This path violates historic American principles—it shows no regard for the balance of powers or the role of the Congress; it invades our privacy; and it eliminates public participation in and understanding of government. Swept along, we have entered a war without proper consideration and rushed dangerous legislation through Congress.

Now is the time to regain the Constitution, to return to the values and processes that made America great. Byrd does not shrink from speaking the truth to an ever more aggressive and imperial White House. >>

It seems this book is being ignored/ditched by some of the big names in the book business *censorship* might I suggest? This mere possibility made me hurry up and order a copy as it may only go into a single printing I suspect.

Here is a link to buy it via amazon.com's website for those interested in pre-ordering it before it become "no longer available". Cost is less than $17.00.

It sound like a scathing book. What else could we possibly expect from Senator Robert Byrd, a true American hero. :D

Might be a good read. I've got a long reading list right now but I might try the good Senator's book.

2. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe you could find a used copy at amazon or
at half.com, or maybe even on Ebay. Sometimes that's the only way to get out-of-print books.

Sounds like a good one.
