What effect an attack B/4 election....... |
|
would have on the outcome .My frist line of thinking is that this would be the nail in bushes politicial career, however some think it would assure him re-election .The scary part is that if the terrorist felt that an attack B/4 the election would ensure that bush would lose, they would be inclined to try ! Yet would that not possibly backfire ,since people seem to rally around a President when we are being attacked ,also many would think changing the President while we are being attacked would not be a good idea. Even as bad as I want bush out of office ,I certainly would not wish for more inocent people to die ,to meet that goal . Educating the uninformed on just how terrible a job bush has done should be more then enough for bush not being reselected. You would think so , however some seem to blindly follow this idiot ,or are so greedy about getting tax cuts they really dont care about anything else. It seems everyone I know that backs bush ,this is their #1 reason, greed ! Even though they would never admit it.

1. No doubt in my mind that if this happens, we lose.... |
|
I know I"m naturally a cynic and pessimist but this thing is already too close. I just think it would sway people to not want to change horses mid-race. I'd like to be proven wrong on all counts, but still....

2. If Smirk has the same kind of crew |

working for him that Nixon had in '72, you can count on some sort of dirty tricks to try and cement the election for him. And the sucker American public will fall for it!

3. There doesn't even have to be an actual attack |
|
Just a well-staged & orchestrated near-attack that is thwarted by the Bushies in the nick of time. Presto, they come out looking like heros--and bye-bye any hopes for Kerry/Edwards.

If Al-Q doesn't attack before the election, this is proof that * is "winning the war on terrorism" and "keeping us safe."
If they do attack before the election, it's proof that the terrorists want * out and you don't want to do what terrorists want, do you? (That, or the old "don't change horses" tripe.)

and the fact that the Iraq War has done NOTHING to make us safer?

6. Yes, that's why the attack will be "thwarted". |
|
The well-rehearsed "attack" will be narrowly averted at the last second and we'll all be saved by the heroic actions of the Bushistas. They have God on their side, you know.

7. The problem will not be the attack itself, if it actually happens.... |
|
...the problem will be how the Neocons RESPOND to such an attack. My guess is that martial law would be declared and elections suspended indefinitely.

8. Yes, the uninformed--this is |
|
what is very important. And it is mostly the uninformed who are being hurt. In my neck of the woods I am becoming known as the "preacher." I haven't yet grabbed them in a headlock, but I do try to inform others about what is going on and how it affects us all. But if I can persuade just one to vote Democratic I feel vindicated.

It's more of a feeling... since I'm not an American.
But as far as I "know" Americans they always seem to rally to the flag and the president in case of a catastrophic event, which I think is a fine thing, but it can be guided and abused for someones goals.
My guess would be that an attack and a vow of revenge would rally most of people around Bush again. The fear/panic/revenge factor is not to be underestimated.
In case of a REAL big catastrophe I could even imagine the elections being called of or postponed.
Talking of big catastrophes... A UCLA university professor predicts some 50:50 chance for 6.0 earthquake for California in the coming months. And the guy already perdicted 2 other quakes that did occur... and it's not like the guy predicted 10 quakes and 2 actually happened... he's very careful before he cries "Wolf!"

11. When it happened in Spain, it backfired on the *-supporting gov't |
|
They got voted the hell out, and same would happen here. Doesn't matter---the CIA is mad at * and is not going to gift him with an attack, even if he wants one.

Through the heroic actions of the Bushistas. See, all that Homeland Security stuff paid off! So no more protesting about your civil rights, OK?
