Weapons of Mass Distraction

Kerry/Edwards is getting gobs of free press. Kenny Boy did the perp walk. More deaths in "sovereign" Iraq. Polls are not too good for the Bushies. What does it all mean?

It's time for a Terralert, of course! And this one's extra-special -- the Evildoers™ are Planning to Strike Somewhere, Somehow (but we don't really know more than that), as usual, but we know they're going to do something to interfere with the election. And we don't want to show the Terrists we're like those pansy Spaniards who wussed out on their war hero leader and elected some peacenik, right?

Of course, the timing of this announcement is all coincidental. Nothing to see here, move along.

Keeping the American people in a constant state of fear is a type of terrorism, isn't it? Now, I'm not going to trot out the "Bush is worse than Osama bin Laden," gambit, because it's a tired argument, probably not accurate, and a red herring besides. But they do seem to have similar goals -- keeping Americans afraid, and scaring them into submission or acquiescence.

I can think of some people -- besides Al Qaeda -- who would want nothing more than a disruption of the elections in November.
