PEW Internet: A new pattern of people LOOKING FOR NEWS ON |

THE INTERNET. Seeing Iraq victims, and other graphic content. Some just found. Some accidentally (and wished they had not...) hmmmmmmm.. Are they going to use the latter to try to control the INTERNET?.

There's so much disinformation on the internet, and it's difficult to differentiate between what is true and what is not. For every person who reads somthing factual, there is another who stumbles on freerepublic and reads it as gospel.

No more disinformation, just not as slickly packaged or orchestrated. Corporate media is far more sophisticated in it's presentation, but probably more dangerous because access to broadcast airwaves are extremely controlled and limited. And the more concentrated it becomes, the greater the danger that it is being filtered to the benefit of the few.
The thing about the internet is the rapid decentralization of information and the inability for message spinning ....every event will have a 1000 different viewpoints reporting/describing it. On the 'net, the consumer makes the value judgement by choice of sites to read.
That's what I love about the DU. You get 46,000+ "reporters" posting news here....and you can get immediate opinions on the veracity of the information and/or insights as to the significance of it. Really, the DU is my primary conduit for "news". If it is real news, there's gonna be a 100 threads started in a matter of hours to discuss it.
