236,000 idiots watch Dennis Miller - McEnroe wears Kerry Button
Just a couple of interesting tidbits I ran in to - maybe they're 236,000 people in nursing homes where the mean staff refuses to change the channel.

Miller's average viewership of 236,000 through June is a 19 percent increase from the same period last year, according to Nielsen Media Research. CNBC doesn't have much to lose in McEnroe's time slot: the current business program is averaging 189,000 viewers this year.

A recently registered Democrat, McEnroe wore a John Kerry button on the lapel of his jeans jacket.

He recalled rushing home from London in 1984 to vote for Ronald Reagan, but his plane was diverted and he was unable to vote. By the time he reached the ground, television commentators were already declaring Reagan the winner, anyway.

The experience heightened McEnroe's cynicism so much he didn't vote again until 2000.

"An unregistered cynic is the phrase I would use," he said. "I've come to realize that's a copout."
