October Surprise strategy

I have been trying to think of what we should do to counteract the October Surprise. And now I have a couple of ideas.

- From now until November, we should be spreading the concept of October Surprise far and wide, so that when it occurs, people swallow it with the large grain of salt it deserves.

- I would like for activists to start scheduling every weekend in October for events. Who knows what we may need. letter writing campaigns, poster making, take it to the streets, In any case, we need to get people standing by to take whatever action is necessary at a moments notice. And for those dates that we don't have to respond to an October Surprise, we can be working on getting out the vote efforts. Phone calls, flyering, signs.

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

i work on media rapid resonse, and you would be surprised how much difference it makes to write them. the more of us do, the more some really do double-take.

most news sources have a contact link, and even just a short, 'look again' to them matters - complete coherent explanations, even more so!

so do thank-yous to those who get things correct, and honest. that reinforcement makes a distinct difference.
