The thing is, it's amazing the people I know -- even some Dems -- who are fans of Kid Rock. These are intelligent people for the most part.
Personally, I never got it. I mean he's basically Steve Perry with a slightly harder (supposedly) edge. His lyrics are clearly geared for people who don't like to think. But there's really nothing special about his music. I suspect he'll be on some VH1 special 10 years from now "Patriotic Rock: What were we thinking?" or something. I just don't get it. Nugent has ALWAYS been a hack.

They used it as a platform to say "all liberals are bad and can't care for the troops."

They made a point of say to the crowd "there are no liberals here tonight, and we're all voting for Bush"

They raised $2 million for members of the families of troops whose murder they instigated by cheerleading for the war.

The premise is that the families can't object because they're getting money which they desparately need, now that their loved one is dead, thanks to Hannity, Nugent, TK and Darryl Whorely's cheerleading for a war for profit.

So they essentially raped these grieving families for partisan purposes. Families whose tragedy they contributed to in the first place.

Absolutely disgusting.
