Pentagon Says Bush Records of Service Were Destroyed
HOUSTON, July 8 - Military records that could help establish President Bush's whereabouts during his disputed service in the Texas Air National Guard more than 30 years ago have been inadvertently destroyed, according to the Pentagon.

It said the payroll records of "numerous service members," including former First Lt. Bush, had been ruined in 1996 and 1997 by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service during a project to salvage deteriorating microfilm. No back-up paper copies could be found, it added in notices dated June 25.

The destroyed records cover three months of a period in 1972 and 1973 when Mr. Bush's claims of service in Alabama are in question.

The disclosure appeared to catch some experts, both pro-Bush and con, by surprise. Even the retired lieutenant colonel who studied Mr. Bush's records for the White House, Albert C. Lloyd of Austin, said it came as news to him.

2. They destroyed the microfiche.
They better have records to prove it happened in 96-97. I can't imagine a thing like that happens in the ANG without voluminous records documenting the error.

....my thoughts exactly! Somewhere there has to be some comments/documents about this happening.

IMO: Yep, the "hmmmmmmmm......" file for sure! And very interesting that the WH released "all" the documents and did not notice the big hole in the pay records!

6. in other news, GD flooded with duplicate threads
I don't normally like to nitpick about this, but there are already at least 3 threads on this in GD, one of which is on the front page.

8. "...inadvertently destroyed..."
How Conveeeeeeeeenient.... and no one remembers anything....

Now they just need to search for the records on the other men who were there at the same time.. If THEIR records are in tact, that would be very telling..:)

10. Well, why can't he remember where he was? Isn't he capable of ...
remembering where he was and give us a full account of exactly where he was and what he was doing?

You would think an Ivy league graduate would have an excellent memory.

Lying bastards...

12. How convenient. . . .
And if this doesn't prove that the bushies will stop at nothing--be it lying, stealing, or cheating, this pretty much seals the deal. How can the average American not wake up and realize what's going on here?

13. Payroll records?
Who needs them. Mr. Bush* show us your DD 214. DD 214s tell all that is necessary. In addition to the DD 214s the backs of my two Honorable Discharges also list all duty stations and the dates of service at each duty station.

Bushies are bull shitting as usual. Mr. Bush* more so than the rest.
