Film About the Life Of Paul Wellstone And More.....
Have you heard about the new political films that are out -- the email said forward to a friend - so I am forwarding to my DU friends!

Subject: More good political films

Dear XXXXXX,

"Fahrenheit 9/11," Michael Moore's new film, is not the only great documentary out right now.

We recommend two other new movies featuring Wellstone Action Advisory Committee members Al Franken and Julian Bond, which examine the policies of the Bush administration and the aftermath of September 11. Both of these documentaries would work as centerpieces for house parties and community gatherings, and to share with friends and neighbors.

"Hijacking Catastrophe"
"Hijacking Catastrophe" exposes how the Bush administration used the trauma of 9/11 and the war on terrorism to advance a radical neo-conservative global plan. Narrated by Julian Bond, "Highjacking Catastrophe" features interviews with prominent political observers, including Daniel Ellsberg, Norman Mailer, Zia Mian, and Noam Chomsky. It's a terrific film!

"Hijacking Catastrophe" is available on DVD or VHS for $19.95 (plus shipping and handling) through the Media Education Foundation. To order your copy, visit www.mef.tv.

"There's Something About W"
Also check out "There's Something About W," a wry documentary about the policies of the Bush administration. It is an entertaining, well-reasoned, and non-shrill examination of the Bush presidency. Sprinkled with intelligent humor, the film features commentary by Molly Ivins, Paul Krugman, Kevin Phillips, Michael Moore and Al Franken. It is narrated by the actor Peter Coyote.

"There's Something About W" is available on DVD and can be seen in the fall of 2004 via LinkTV (DIRECTV Ch. 375 and DISH Network Ch. 9410). For more information, visit www.somethingaboutw.org.

"Carry It Forward!"
Don't forget that the producers of "Carry It Forward!" a documentary about the life of Paul Wellstone, are in the final editing stages of the film. It will be shown at the Toronto Film Festival later this month with a release in the fall. To see a trailer of the film, visit www.carryitforward.org. In addition to the documentary, the producers of "Carry It Forward" have also released an excellent 5-minute video, "Vote!" that focuses on the importance of voting and voter registration efforts. It can be purchased at www.carryitforward.org.

Finally, check out our website (www.wellstone.org) to see our recently added list of recommended books. If you're interested in adding books about politics and social activism to your summer reading list, you will find several engaging, funny, and informative books on this list!
