Why haven't the Bush twins enlisted in the military yet?
Let me get this straight. America's sons and daughters are supposed to go die in Iraq, but the only service expected of Shrub's daughters is that they hit the campaign trail for him?

Don't you think a reporter would have asked George by now if he expects his newly graduated daughters to serve in the military? It seems like a reasonable question to me.

1. For that matter, in the 538 Congressmen, why is there only 1...
...with a son in Iraq???
Shouldnt they be really showing their support to Bush???
:::cough:::

3. The least they could do is tour with the USO
Al Franken could write up a good comedy routine for them.

10. You should call Franken on his show and suggest that he offer to do that
-- take them on a USO tour. That would be funny.

5. They like to compare Iraq with WWII, so why don't the twins
serve like FDR's kids did?

"As with TR's sons in World War I, all four of FDR's sons -- James, Elliott, Franklin Jr., and John -- served in the military in World War II. However, unlike his cousin TR, whose beloved son Quentin was killed in action, FDR saw all of his sons return home, having survived their service."

7. how about a visit to Walter Reed?
the twins have been too busy with their other priorities. They could bring the boys some books and movies, write letters for them, I mean gosh, don't they care about OUR FREEDOMS?

14. I always thought it should be required that all potential enlistees
be given a tour of a military hospital before they signed the papers. Besides providing some eye opening truth in advertising for the youngsters, it might also insure that our military men will always get the best treatment in the world, instead of being warehoused in substandard facilities.

8. how about Wolfowitz's kids?
he has three kids in their early twenties. Maybe if they were serving it would help him remember the casualty counts. Probably too busy on the Kibbutz.

12. the bush twins did enlist, and served admirably....
...and then the records proving so were accidentaly destroyed. Not just the base records, but the microfilm also. And, this just in, the Social Security payroll records. What a tragic coincidince... but they did serve, even got a few medals...

17. I don't understand your point
If Bush truly believes this war is as necessary to fight as WWII was, than why would he not expect his daughters to serve, as FDR's sons did? Why would the supporters of the war expect other people's sons and daughters to go there, but not their own?

20. What Bush expects
Is totally irrelevant.
they are their own people
and have chosen not to enlist
By your reasoning they should be forced into it
We don't even know their views on the war, their views on anything

If they don't support the war, they shouldn't campaign for him.

23. his wife does not support
his views on abortion
she is campaigning for him
John Edwards pro death penalty is on the same ticket as John Kerry anti death penalty
and so on
For all I know they may support the war, however their parents have no right to force them into a career they do not want

26. I can see your point, but I could also see
why people who are serving or whose kids are serving would say to them or to Wolfowitz's kids, "Do you support this war, and if so, tell us why you are too good to be here for the cause your father talks up so much? Why I am good enough or why are my kids good enough, but your life is too precious when they are so in need of troops they are keeping people there for long stretches and forcing other people back into uniform?"

It makes me feel even more strongly that Bush cannot defend the reasons for the Iraq war when the supporters don't seem to believe in their cause enough to make any sacrifices.

24. A lot of other people's kids are being forced to serve
even though they have already fulfilled their commitment to the military. Even people who do not believe that this war is just are being forced into extended service.

18. And That Reason Would Be....?
Why is this question unworthy of reasoned debate, would you feel better if the debate were unreasonable?

And could you enlighten us as to the reason yours haven't joined, and tell us how you know that it's the same reason the Bush twins haven't joined up.

The curious minds would like to know.

There might be one of those pesky drug tests to get past too.
