Plame, Matalin and WHIG

Mary Matalin, the former Cheney press flak, left his employ in December 2002. She was a member of the White House Iraq Group.

The Plame grand jury interviewed her in January 2004, mere weeks after it is generally assumed that someone who knew critical information had been flipped by prosecutors and agreed to cooperate.

The linked story below implies that she was interviewed primarily about how the WH deals with the press. But if she was a member of WHIG, and even if she left in late 2002 (as the State of the Union fiasco was taking shape), it's possible she's more intimately aware of what Cheney, Libby, Rove, etc. were saying about Joseph Wilson, if not Valerie Plame. Note that she was before the grand jury two weeks BEFORE McClellan appeared.

3. not public

Grand jury testimony almost always remains secret unless it's essential for entry into the record at trial.

Meantime, I'm wondering how long Plame's name was known among the WHIGsters.

2. My own speculation
That Carville got her the hell out of there before Libby could hang the whole mess around her neck.
