A RW chain letter and my reply
It's so sad that they can't think for themselves and need chain mail to keep feeling good about themselves. First the letter, which you've probably seen, and my reply.

----------------------------------------------------
Worst president in history?

The following appeared in the Durham, NC local paper as a letter to the
editor. Please forward to all on your list as this will put things in
perspective:

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They
complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed
Bush was
the worst president in U.S. history. Let's clear up one point:

We didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by
terrorists BEFORE 9/11. Let's look at the "worst" president and
mismanagement claims.

FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did.
From
1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never
attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of
18,333
per year.

John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never
attacked us. Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975,
58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia
never
attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three
times
by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has
liberated
two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear
inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and
captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We
lost 600
soldiers. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist
attack at home. Worst president in history? Come on!

The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...
It
took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch
Davidian compound. That was a 51 day operation.

We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less
time
than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to
destroy
the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to call the
police
after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in
Florida!!!!

Our military is GREAT! PASS IT ON.

---------------------------------------------------------------

My reply:

Why would you send me this? If I wanted fiction, I'd turn on the Fox News Channel

----------------------------------------------------------------

Short and sweet. Because it isn't worth me spending any more time on it.

1. good response, but...
we need to do a better job debunking these pieces of revisionist history.

so many times, this BS gets out there and it is so prevalent that it starts to sink in to the public consciousness.

3. A short response is probably the best
Because this is an apples and oranges argument. (Reno compared to a military invasion of Bag dad)
Someone who would fall for this would not Listen to facts or use any kind of logic.

2. Name one time
where anyone other than Bush has created an army of 20,000 enemies because of their actions.

I've very snottily referred too many of them to the appropriate pages on the Snopes site.

5. I'll take two...
FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost an average of 112,500 per year.

On December 8, 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. Japan had done so one day earlier.

The complexity of World War II is unparalleled by the current war. Germany, Italy and Japan all used multiple divisions who actively fought at all hours of the day and night. The current war is actually two wars--a "war on terror," which is being fought against an enemy who makes one attack then lies low for months or years, and a war on Iraq, which is, depending on who you ask, either a battle against poorly-armed individuals or a battle against the remnants of the old Iraqi Army.

Truman finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year.

Let's hear it for Task Force Smith...

6. Here You Go:
I wanted to respond to your email in depth, but I'm currently busy looking for a job to replace the one that was Outsourced to India last year. As you know, my house faces forclosure because we cannot pay the vastly overinflated PG&E Bills that were brought to us courtesy of Enron's manufactured "Energy Crisis" that was conjured up through criminal collusion between Ken Lay and Dick Cheney. To boot, my wife was recently arrested in Texas for attending a Bachelorette Party where vibrators and other sex toys were being sold, and I need to go down there to bail her out.
