Republicans boycott Heinz for "W Ketchup": Heinz donates 98% to GOP.

Republicans launch "W ketchup"
By Oliver Conway -- BBC
Saturday, July 10, 2004

----
First there were "freedom fries" - for patriotic Americans who couldn't stomach the French version because of their opposition to the war in Iraq.
Now there's "W" ketchup to dip them in.
The W apparently stands for Washington after the nation's first president - but the manufacturers are throwing their weight behind George W Bush's bid for re-election.
In an appeal to Republicans, the sauce's website says "you don't support Democrats, why should your ketchup?"
That is a reference to Teresa Heinz Kerry - wife of the Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
----
Read the rest here.
----
A quick search of the web and I easily found a report on who Heinz donates to:
HJ Heinz Company Political Action Committee
Date of last report: March 31, 2004
2% to Democrats, 98% to Republicans
----

----
I've nominated "W Ketchup" for this week "Top Ten Conservative Idiots."

3. LOL, That is funny!
Are these geniuses also planning to come out with a "W" label of the other 56 Heinz varieties?

Freepers could use Bush 911 sauce on their steaks in lieu of Heinz 57 sauce.

5. We are from Pgh., and my husband was really pissed about that!
This story aired immediately after the one about the Pentagon accidentally destroying shrub's military records. He hadn't quite recovered from "do they really think people are THAT stupid" comments, when here comes the "W" on the Heinz bottle. I thougt he was really going to lose it! My husband is the least interested in politics of anyone I know, but he was really disgusted with this BS.

I'm not too surprised about Heinz donating a lot to the Pubs. Remember, John Heinz was a Pub Senator from Pgh. Pa. I have no idea what kind of relationship Teresa has with the Heinz family since John died. The Heinz Corp. is a very large Corp. and benefits a lot by the Pub policies.

Keep an eye on the contributions in the next few months. I'm sure it will answer my questions about whose side they're on.

12. Theresa was a Republican until 2002, as were her sons ...
She voted for John McCain in 2000. Switched to the Democrats after the lousy way the Repugs went after Max Cleland in Georgia. She was disgusted and finally changed parties.

25. I agree. I lived in Allegheny County for 43 years.
I used to pass the Heinz plant every day on my way to work and had many friends who worked there. Even after people move away from Pa., they still look for the Heinz bottle on the table, or the packet in the fast food place.

Somebody in this admin. wasn't thinking...AGAIN!

15. On Heinz' website
According to Heinz, the policy of the Heinz PAC is to support the candidate from both parties. It gave $5000 to Bush's campaign and, because Kerry does not accept PAC contributions, it gave $5000 to the Democratic National Committee.

That's pretty partisan.
