Bush's Latest Phoney Photo-Op - at Diner in PA.
http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-a1_5dinerjul10,0,7391765.story?coll=all-news-hed

Here's an excerpt from a story about George Bush making a seemily impromptu stop in a local diner on his way to a speech yesterday (Friday) in Kutztown PA.

"Bush sat for several minutes with a half-dozen people who were brought to the restaurant from Kutztown University, where he was heading for a rally."

"The six people, hand-selected by local Republican committees and the Bush-Cheney election campaign, were notified Thursday that they were chosen to speak with the president during his talk at the university's Keystone Hall...The president asked each of the six about themselves..."

However, one person who was not hand-selected managed to ask a question at the diner.

"Julie Ambrose ... questioned Bush on unfunded mandates for education. "I was thinking if he gets close to me, I can't just say, 'Rah-rah, President.' He can't go through thinking the entire Lehigh Valley is just cheering for him..." said Ambrose, a Democrat and PTA leader. "I said, 'Mr. President, we can't take any more unfunded mandates. The city of Allentown doesn't mind mandates as long as they are funded."

"You'll have to take that up with your governor," Bush responded."

This just shows Bush is completely out of touch that his Federal education policies are also causing unfunded mandates.

When Clinton was President, he made a similar trip to the same small town. He passed an elementary school where school kids stood on their front lawn to watch him drive by. In a COMPLETELY unscheduled stop on a 2 lane country road, Clinton ordered the motorcade to halt, back up, and pull into the driveway of the school. Clinton then spent time with all of the kids, making him late for the speech. Years later, the school was still proudly displaying artwork from its students showing "The Day the President Came to Visit."

----
Meanwhile, CNN Headline News keeps repeating a two sentence story about Bush's trip to Pennsylvania. They keep repeating that Football Coach Joe Paterno said that Bush was "the greatest President in history." What can we expect from a news channel that increasingly is being run like a division of their parent company's People Magazine.
