F 9/11 Will Cost Dems the Election
At least that's what Cokie and David Brooks said on The Chris Matthews Show, which airs tomorrow for most of you. A little caveat? Neither of them have seen it yet. Quoth Cokie, "It doesn't matter whether I see it or not."

But I was shocked to hear Tweety, Howard Fineman, and someone from the CSM say that it was effective and will help Kerry and Edwards. Of course, those three actually saw the film, unlike Cokie and Brooks.

1. of all the people who have opinions on F911...
I'd say Cokie's, Tweetie's, Brooksie's and Howie's are the least worth listening to.

2. Something for them to chew on
Dale Jr took his entire pit crew to see it, and suggested that everybody should go see it regardless of their politics. I think Dale reaches more people than the two MWs...

3. F 911 is the end of Who's Career('s)?
I love hearing them squirm. They know they've lost credibility. All they can do is project their demise onto others.

...and this passes for political commentary? Willful ignorance?

What in the hell do they pay Kookie for - you'd think she could sit her lazy ass through a ninety minute movie so her opinion might be worth a damn. Just unbelieveable.

It's a 2 hour movie, but the point stands that Cokie Roberts and David Brooks should watch it before talking about it on national tv.

6. I saw that too. And my jaw about hit the floor when BOTH Tweety & Fineman
said to Cokie, "It DOES matter if you haven't seen it!" -- and basically just shut her up.

I was pretty surprised, I got the impression that the three that had seen F911 seemed to think it was pretty effective.

28. That makes the point!
How can one be a critic of what he/she has not seen for themself? I haven't seen the piece, but it's good to hear the Matthews and Fineman are calling her on it. :)

Before the movie came out, that would be one thing, but now that the movie has been out 2 weeks, A MOVIE WHICH WON BEST MOVIE AT CANNES, it's ridiculous that professional national political commentators like Cokie Roberts and David Brooks are so smug that they think they can comment on it without going to see it and their opinion is valuable.

Wow. I'm surprised because Chris Matthews did one episode of "Hardball" after another on "The Reagans" mini-series BEFORE it was broadcast with guests who didn't see it, and had no major coverage of the mini-series the week AFTER it was broadcast.

Too bsd Chris Matthews didn't apply the principle that it's better to interview people who have seen a movie than people who haven't to "The Reagans."

7. Heh Heh, That Cokie
Ms. Roberts just can't be stopped, can she? Heh. I see that, unfortunately, her already logic-defying, unswerving hatred of all things left-leaning and/or Democratic (you can probably take the large "d" away from that last word and perhaps remain accurate) is still being refueled by her continuing bitterness over her ABC ouster. Darn liberal media!

Incidentally, if I were Cokie, I suppose I would now follow that last paragraph with a disclaimer indicating that I don't know who Cokie is, but am still qualified to offer an opinion about her. :eyes:

Thankfully, I'm not Cokie. :nopity:

15. She used to pose as one
in fact, her father was one for real. But once, Pres. Clinton kept Cokie and her mommy waiting at the WH. I'm sure his work was less significant than her appearance there--he may have been trying to fight terrorism, for example, or balancing the budget, both of which are less important than Ol' Cokie--and she is still grinding her axe.

Yes, those Democrats with their bad manners. They turn off the perfumed pundit class all the time. Quelle Dommage.

8. When the DVD hits the street in September or October THAT will cost Junior
the election. Many fence-sitters and moderate Repukes will view this film for the first time on DVD (not to mention the ones who will have already seen it on the big screen). And, they will all carry their sentiments to the voting booth on November 2. Count on it!

There's no party lines there. They're all part of The Problem™, so to speak.

Hale Boggs was a good Democrat. He was a decent Speaker of the House for the short time he sat in the chair.

Even though Hale was a bit conservative for the 1970s, he'd be seen as a flaming liberal today.

The Brooks and Shields portion was remarkable - when the question came up of whether the Intelligence report was going to harm the misadministration, Shields was refreshingly direct in stating it would indeed....Brooks was in La La land throughout the discussion. What is he on, anyway???

I don't mind Brooks so much. He's not supposed to be neutral and nobody thinks he is. Cokie, however, is different. Her GOP whoring is contemptuous.

senior, knowledgeable and unbiased reporter. She seems to be thinking about her legacy now that she is getting a bit older. I don't get upset with her really, I just sort of overlook her comments now.
