I'm proud to be an American... |

For not giving poor people off on Election Day. The economy must not be impacted by people taking this one day off every four years. Even the president comes to work every day.
For giving us the electoral college, rather than the direct popular vote. Makes things much more interesting for everyone. We all love those daily tracking polls and the suspense of waiting for the other shoe to drop when the actual vote counting goes awry.
For letting a compassionate conservative, who holds the record for most executions by a governor and who served honorably in the National Guard, to become president - even though he got fewer votes. The other candidate got more votes, but as he was so despised by the liberal press, he didn't deserve to be president, regardless of his vast experience as Senator and Vice President.
For electing state election officials who have vastly superior technical expertise in voting machines technology than those misinformed Johns Hopkins computer scientists.
For having honest governors of swing states such as Florida who make sure that all voters in the state, regardless of race, are treated equally.
For the technology companies, such as Diebold, who provide the best, most accurate and reliable touchscreen voting machines in the world. No sloppy paper trail is necessary.
For the founding fathers concept of separation of powers which was best exemplified by the Supreme Court when it ended the horror of that manual recount.
For honest, concerned, fair Senators, who would not let Black congressional representatives disrupt the august chamber from doing the important work of installing a President - just because they believed they were disenfranchised from voting.

1. I'd love to disagree with you here. |
|
Believe me, I'd love it. Nothing would be better than to tell you that you're full of it. But I can't. I wish you WERE full of it, but you aren't. Fuck.

3. I'm proud to be an American, just not proud of our government |
|
And "not proud" is about the biggest understatement of the year.

Because unlike our current "leaders", I still seem to know what that means. They have apparently forgotten, if they ever really knew at all.
I have always believed the real America exists OUTSIDE Washington DC, the State capitals and in general outside any part of the government on any level. They love to tell us how they are going to serve us when they are stumping for our votes, then the day after the elections forget who it is that they are supposed to be working for.
The Chimp* was blowing hot air in his radio address about "not changing the definition of marriage." My God, here is the leader of a bunch of miscreants who have done nothing but plot and scheme to change the very DEFINITION OF AMERICA itself and they are worried about the definition of marriage? Welcome to Bizarro World indeed!
I am proud to be an American because I know what it means. It means I have the right to disagree with those which We the People elect to serve us. If this nation crumbles to dust tomorrow and some new entity takes its place, I will still be an American. I don't know how to be anything else.
