A short personal story some might find interesting and/or funny |
|
First off I am in my mid to late fifties and have been married to the same woman for twenty-five years. I am fascinated by politics and concerned greatly while my wife pays no attention at all. She does vote but feels it is an effort of futility. Anyway on to the story. Somehow our finances have become so convoluted we had to hire an accountant to do our taxes. We/he filed for an extension and just yesterday finally got around to sending them off. As we were putting the taxes in the envelopes my wife says to me "Don't lick the envelope." I guess I had a confused look on my face because she then went on to say. "I don't trust this government. They may just use your saliva for some DNA studies or who knows what." This from my totally apolitical wife. I didn't even know she was concerned about our government one way or another. She does have a point though and I didn't lick the envelope. Won't ever again if it is going to a government agency.
