Swingthevote.us...a good group to volunteer with! |
|
Swingthevote is working very hard in New Hampshire which is a battleground state. In 2000, Bush won by about 7200 votes and got the 4 Electoral College votes from this State. He won nationally by only 4 electoral College votes. In my county, 23,000 registered voters (dems and inds) did not vote in 2000. If only 1/3rd of them had voted, the outcome of the election might have been different.
Sometimes looking at the national scene is daunting, overwhelming and frustrating, but I can work in my little corner of the world and maybe make a difference. I volunteered to work for this group and am going to spend Saturdays and Sundays from now to November trying to get folks to register to vote or to vote if they are already registered.
Do you have a swingthevote organization in your state?
PS. I'm thinking of picking up an absentee ballot for myself just in case Bush calls a Red Alert the day before the election and tells everyone to stay home!

1. Voting absentee not a bad idea |
|
Here in AR we can vote several weeks early, and no reason needs to be given. I'll probably do that, for the same reasons you have.
Swing voters-new voters-we have a group here made up of Dems, Reps, and Inds who all hate Bush and are doing everything they can to elect Kerry in November!

2. Wonderful! I think we should all quietly |

suggest to our friends that they pick up an absentee ballot. If Bush cancels the election, I'm going to vote anyway! :-)
