So That Kenny-boy would never have to spend much, if any, time in jail.

Agree or disagree?

2. Pardon?
I don't think you can pardon a person unless they have been convicted.

8. Ask Gerald Ford
He pardoned Nixon for all crimes he committed, or may have committed. Sounds like pardoning someone before they've been convicted to me.

10. Can Bush pardon him?
Lay is a private citizen, not a government employee. I don't know. I'm asking.

If Bush DID pardon him, more people would wake up to the fact of what a scam 401k's are and who really makes out. I feel so badly for the Enron employees. I can't imagine the rage they feel for Kenny Boy.

Presidents can pardon anyone--not limited to gov't employees.

11. Yes
Bush can pardon anybody he wants, for any reason.

But I have to think such a blatant payback would make the Marc Rich scandal look like a picnic.

Lay is safe as a baby in mama's arms. And EVERY ONE OF THOSE IDIOTS who said justice would be done should know how stupid they will look when its over.

17. A general warning though
If you put your entire 401k in one stock, you're a fool, and the old saying is true that a fool and their money will soon be separated.

14. Certainly agree! That's why Kenny boy was smirking all the way on
his perp walk. It'll be a la Iran/Contra style; Papa Bush pardoned the few who were convicted, quietly of course, on x-mas eve day IIRC.

15. disagree
Lay's indictment is the 31st person associated with Enron to be indicted. The prosecution has climbed right up the corporate ladded getting the little guys to turn on the middle guys and the middle guys to turn on the big guys. It's all been pretty easy to see for quite a while.

Will Bush pardon Lay? I have no idea.

Was this indictment dragged out? No - that's a laugh.

18. Well, it took 'em 3 years to make Lay's arrest. That's not a laugh.
Hope it sticks and I hope Bush doesn't pardon him.

19. I think the investigations took their course ...

It takes a LOT of time to snake your way through the layers of lesser officials to get at the guys on top. However, I do suspect that a Ken Lay pardon is coming AFTER the election irregardless of whether Bush wins.
