2. You know how the government mailed us all those checks?
They should mail us all ballots, with a return deadline of November 2... sort of like our IRS forms.
Hmm... the IRS should even have a mailing list they could use.

3. This is what I don't understand about this talk of postponing the election
Let's use 9-11 as my example.

If there was another attack like 9-11 that happened in New York. That would not affect my ability to go my polling place in Illinois. Nor would it effect a person in California, Iowa, Ohio, Arkansas, etc. The only state that would be effected would be New York. But would it effect the people of upper New York State? Probably not.

Why all of this talk about postponing everyone's right to vote? Well, we know the answer to that. My above scenario is just my mind being boggled by all of this talk.

5. Would it affect the people of Upper West Side, for that matter?

6. Right. I don't want to sound crass
but the % of voters that would be effected are so small compared to likely or registered voters it seems stupid to postpone the entire election. I know that sounds crass because EVERYONE should get to vote but the only way the attack would truly affect the voters is if there was an attack on November 1 or 2. Couldn't major cities that are considered high targets come up with a contingency plan instead of cancelling the election. That of course would be the responsible thing to do and this administration isn't concerned with that.

That is why this is all such a joke to me. I am sure there are other options available but they are only looking at one.

4. then they could claim there was an anthrax attack on the USPS
and hold all those mailed in ballots in suspension 'until the threat has passed,' which would be 'never.'

Would you ever believe any count done by these criminals in such a scenario?

Every postal facility would be a potential 'crime scene' but hey! Rudy Guliani's new company could be in charge of cleaning out anthrax from all sites - he's doing it today in Boca with his new company! (sorry for the sarcasm)

8. Clearing anthrax from the old National Enquirer headquarters?
Just what I was talking about on the (now-locked) Jenna Bush thread.

The Enquirer published these stories about the Bush twins:

  • Apr 19, 2001 Prez's Daughter in Spring Break Booze Binge
  • Apr 30, 2001 Jenna Bush Gets Booze Ticket
  • May 31, 2001 Bush Daughters at it Again
  • Jun 01, 2001 Jenna Bush Caught on Tape?
  • Jun 08, 2001 Laura & George At War Over Daughters' Boozing
  • Aug 14, 2001 It's Another Wild Party Week for Jenna
  • Oct 02, 2001 Bush Daughters Get High -- Skydiving

The photo editor at the Enquirer's publisher who was the first victim of the anthrax attacks, died on October 5, 2001.

According to the Enquirer's search engine, there hasn't been a single mention of Jenna since.
