Hey everyone... maybe you have heard me rant and rave about Clear Channel entertainement and their monopolization of the media industry, and maybe you havnt. well anywho, w/ in the last few years laws concerning ownership of media (tv, radio, newspapers) have relaxed, and corporations have been allowed to
own higher percentaged w/in an industry and accross other industries.
Well, they are planning to further loosenthe laws. this is bad. Corporations like Clear Channel Entertainment have billboards accross the world (including the ones at the mall i work at) along w/ radio stations, historical music venues (like the Warfield and Fillmore in sf) and promote many festivals and concerts. this was never allowed before, and is the main reason why so many radio stations today play the same crap (like how 91X in San Diego USED to be, for those who know...) and why we are
force-fed the same shit from all types of media. its only a few major companies.
BUT THERE IS SOMETHING WE CAN DO TO SAVE THE WORLD!!!! I think that its
important for all of you to go to this webpage and sign this petition to demand the FCC to have a public hearing in everystate. even if you dont attend the
meeting, there are people who are passionate enough to attend that just need enough people to ask for the opportunity.

I think it would be worth it, especially since Clear Channel has been known to excessively politicize the airwaves (those here in CA know what I mean after what happened with the recall election). It shows to me that the enemy we're fighting is composed of entities like this one. After the election I'll probably start taking up efforts to fight against it.
