Breaking: Weapons inspectors NOT "kicked out" of Iraq in 1998!
Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 11:53 AM by librechik
In an UNPRECEDENTED move, for the first time ever, Wolf Blitzer actually corrected a guest (Sen John Cornyn R-TX-Where-Else) on the perennial (but incorrect) assertion, made casually by every single talking head on tv, including Democrats, that Saddam Hussein "kicked out" the weapons inspectors. (just now on CNN)

"No," said Wolfie," I'm sorry I have to correct you Senator, but in fact President Clinton withdrew the weapons inspectors preparatory to the bombing of Iraq."

go check your thermometers. I think Hell is about to freeze over.

16. Here's one!
This was reported in stories about the Spain terrorist attack, because it was in a letter from a group claiming responsibility.

If you google for 'al qaeda statement because of this we desire bush to be elected' (not in quotes in the search), you'll get about 32,200 hits. Here's just one:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s1068257.htm

(snip)

The statement said it supported US President George W Bush in his re-election campaign and would prefer him to win in November rather than the Democratic candidate John Kerry, as it was not possible to find a leader "more foolish than you , who deals with matters by force rather than with wisdom".

In comments addressed to Mr Bush, the group said "Kerry will kill our nation while it sleeps because he and the Democrats have the cunning to embellish blasphemy and present it to the Arab and Muslim nation as civilisation".

"Because of this we desire you to be elected."

The group is named after Muhammed Atef, also known as Abu Hafs, a close bin Laden aide killed in the US-led war in Afghanistan.

17. That's amazing
No wonder the American Press covered that baby up...

In searching I found this amazing Op-Ed my Dr. Muqtedar Khan of the Brookings Institute.

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_15-4-2004_pg3_4

It outlines the reasons Al-Qaeda would want Bush to win and why Kerry would be a better choice to fight the war on terror.

19. Yes.
Saddam killed him dead.

He gave UNSCOM tons of documents and also said he ordered everything to be destroyed without telling the inspectors.

11. Saddam didn't kick them out?
Hmm, i always thought they were kicked out because they were gathering information for the military, like gps coordinates and things like that.Which would be a good reason to kick them out btw.

12. Rule # 2 - It's all Clinton's fault
(kudos to Ed Schultz).

Yeah, Clinton decided give the inspectors enough time to get away from the bombing.

Bush tells the inspectors "You can stay all you want, but I'm bombing in 15 minutes."

And then he says that Saddam Hussein wouldn't let the inspectors in!
