Anti-Hollywood group making up stuff about Michael Moore and Spider-Man.
This site never ceases to crack me up.

http://www.pabaah.com

PABAAH is a group that boycotts basically every movie that comes out, simply because someone involved with the production signed an anti-war petition, or voted Democrat, or visited France, or some other retarded reason. But this quote I think they either took waaaaay out of context, ot just flat-out made up:

"(2004-06-30) -- Spider-Man 2 is part of "a web of deception, a conspiracy to silence" Oscar-winning documentarist Michael Moore, according to the filmmaker whose Fahrenheit 9/11 is America's current number one box office smash.

"It's not just the cynical timing of the release of Spider-Man 2," said Mr. Moore, "but the movie endorses the unilateral and so-called righteous use of power to overcome so-called evil. This is a thinly-veiled rebuttal of Fahrenheit 9/11 and the entire security plank of the Democrat National Committee platform."

Mr. Moore added that buying a ticket to Spider-Man 2 is "tantamount to voting for George Bush."

Now I'm fairly certain Michael Moore never said that, and if he did then he was definitely joking. It seems more likely to have come from a parody site like The Onion, but that doesn't stop the moran who runs PABAAH from running with it like it's a real story.

3. And their entire site is password-protected.
It's impossible to read any of their articles unless you're a member. So who do they think they're convincing, if only their members can read their tripe?

5. I wouldn't risk signing up.
Who knows what those paranoics would plant on your computer.

(The irony of the above statement is recognized and ignored.)

Seriously, there is no "emoticon" to adequately portray their stupidity.

6. They aren't liars, just fucking idiots.
It's true that a lot of actors in Hollywood lean to the left, but that doesn't affect their work at all.

If I only watched movies made by liberals then I would never have seen "Pulp Fiction" and "Die Hard" (Bruce Willis), "Terminator 2" and "Predator" (Arnold Schwarzenegger), or "Signs" and "Braveheart" (Mel Gibson). Those are all great movies that just happen to have conservatives in them, but have nothing at all to do with conservatism.

7. I Have Never
read anything about Mel Gibson being a right winger. He is a conservative Catholic, but that does not make him a right winger.

8. I didn't call him a right-winger.
I called him a conservative, which he is. But I still like a lot of his movies. I haven't seen "The Passion", though, nor do I plan to.

It wouldn't be because of what you heard and seen from the mainstream media, correct? The same reason the right-wing won't go see F-9/11...

I couldn't care-less about Mel Gibson, I think he's a fucking lightweight, as an actor and pontificater.

17. Not at all.
If I thought Gibson would put a unique twist on the material, like Scorsese did, then I would be more interested. I was very interested in the project early on when it was going to be in Aramaic with no subtitles. That sounded like something worth seeing. But all the reviews of the movie that I read said it was basically just two hours of pure torture (on screen, not for the audience) without anything to say. Scorsese took the same basic story and made it unique and memorable by approaching the material from a unique angle. From what I've read, Gibson doesn't say anything new in The Passion, he just films an incredibly realistic and brutal depiction of the crucifixion.

13. Well, it is ultra-violent
Many people aren't into that. I'll probably see it one of these days, but I can understand why someone wouldn't want to watch a 2 hour snuff film about Jesus.
