Proud to admit you're a CONSERVATIVE….. |
|
But not proud to admit that you’re a LIBERAL.
Have you heard this one lately?
This is the new mantra...most probably put together by Limbaugh...since almost every neocon I see on TV pretty much follows what Limbaugh says. Another cute twist of moral logic...nice job Rush.
Of course the whole awakening of the Republican party and their ingenious new way to fight the Democrats was born out of the Reagan years, when Ronny found a way to “reframe the political argument"...in terms of the neocons being the only ones who had a key to success....while Democrats were “taking your hard earned money”....on all sorts of misguided programs. You see GOVERNMENT was the problem...and what better way to spur pure capitalism but to relieve it from insidious government control.
The stage was set for anti-liberalism at that point...and it only took Limbaugh to completely seize the opportunity. He very artfully and in Hitlerian style made liberalism a bad word. Funny you don’t hear much of the word Democrat these days do you?
Limbaugh, the master hate weaver, brought the public a way to HATE liberalism. What better way to attack the Democrats but to make them out to be misguided fanatical and possibly even immoral liberals. And spread this through the “heartland” in such a way that liberalism could be related to anti-life, anti-gun, and anti-religion. You want to hate someone….you can hate these people to the core of their lack of humanity for what's right. Quite an amazing achievement when you think about when classic definitions of liberalism all relate to positive aspects of being broad in outlook, such as “a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties”.
Go to google and try to find one definition which even smells of the type of slant that Limbaugh has achieved in giving the word.
Now look at where we are today. Sunday news this weekend….I heard at least a dozen examples of neocons professing how proud they were to be CONSERVATIVE....and DARED any liberal to make such a claim!
Each one of them said the same thing....see...I can say I’m proud to be a conservative…..but look....they really ARE AFRAID to stand up for what they really believe in....because they KNOW that no one really believes in what they stand for!!!! What else can they do but try to bring down our president, etc etc.
I have personally given up the term liberal for the essential reason that it is as useless a term as conservative is. It has no merit in any discussion…..it is pointless as a means of identifying anything that we believe or stand for....or "gaging" one's political point of view...another very deceptive strategy that Rush can be accredited with. We all know there’s not a dam thing conservative about neocons, and there’s not a dam thing that conservativism has to do with anything which could interpreted as good societal values.
I’ve had some success recently in discussions cutting people off very bluntly and saying....call me what I am....I’m a Democrat....do you even have a f’in clue what liberal means?...or are you simply trying to denigrate me like Limbaugh denigrates the term liberal...because believe me buddy....I don’t f'in need it....and I’m NOT going to f'in take it.
Try it....it works pretty good...

6. There was the guy on George Strepocockolis.... |
|
geeze can't remember his name...but he was the one that said to George.....go ahead....call me a conservative....
So George goes along.....OK....you're a conservative.... Yes I'm a conservative and proud to be one....
He played it up the most...but over the course of the last few days I've heard the line a half dozen times....so I know it has to do with what Limbaugh planted in people's minds sometime last week....
They are all so hanging on a thread of sanity that they really are pretty much plugged into Limbaugh to get their daily guidance.

just typed in his name on google and saw his ugly smilin face.....US Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina.
Should have remembered.....cause he went on to say how he and John Edwards grew up in the same neighborhood....possibly born in the same hospital?.....but off course he was on the "right" side of town.

that liberals were generally too comfortable with the status quo and the staus quo meant that I might die in an imperialistiuc war in the third world/
I call myself a progressive because the term democrat has too much negative baggage from that war (Johnson and Humphrey supported it).
Carter was little better than a liberal republican in many respects - and another rockefeller flunky imho.
I generally stick with Progressive. My ideas are liberal and progressive but I agree that liberal is generally a useless term (liberal on what? Charity and sex? Taxes? Gun ownership?)
I am happy to have all those who oppose the war and who want progressive social change call themselves liberals and I encourage folks to embrace it feircely if it works.
Mosy neoconservatives are not true conservatives at all - they are the opposite: new world orderists aka fascists.
I have respect for real conservatives who oppose government fascism but who recognize social justice and compassion as necessary to a secure society.
the "new" Conservatives are more like Stalin and Hitler than like Teddy Roosecwelt or Lincoln or even Eisenhower. - who warned us about these creepy creeping fascist warmongerers
As far as party I register dem, I tend to vote Green (except for that spook Nader) if it as all possible and practical and , if we had such a party here, would probably be a social democrat'green
Instead I am a proud Democratic opponent of Bushzis

Talking about how Liberals wont admit that they are Liberal how they instead call themselves moderates or progressive.
Of course he doesn't mention the 30 year right wing campaign to make Liberal a dirty word.
Personally I feel that Liberal positions espicially when compared with Right Wing positions are moderate and progressive.

10. What are these self styled "Conservatives" conserving?? |
|
They use the words and ideas of liberalism when it it suits them Reagan was supporting the Polish union Solidarity while destroying unions in America. When it comes to trade agreements capitalists want the most "liberal" terms for themselves. On the other hand they have no interest in conserving the environment or even the laws. Today the term "Liberal" has about as much meaning as the term "Conservative". And if any one claims to be a "conservative" then ask them; "and what are you conserving?"
