New England Senators Form Coalition On Gay Marriage
(Washington) New England's 12 senators span the political spectrum, from Massachusetts´ liberal lion to the more conservative thinkers in New Hampshire, but they are finding a common ground on one of the political season's most contentious issues: gay marriage.

At least four of the region's five Republicans will join the six Democrats and one Independent and vote against the proposed constitutional amendment banning gay marriage this week. Only one, Sen. John Sununu (R-N.H.), was still undecided, and calls to his office Monday were not returned.

Bonding the New England legislators is a sense that while most don't support gay marriage, they say it does not belong in the U.S. Constitution and is an issue for the states, not the federal government, to decide.

Supporters of the amendment, such as Texas Sen. John Cornyn, a Republican, have argued that the federal government must step in to preserve traditional marriage and insure that state courts don't rewrite laws in ways that erode families.

2. I was told earlier New England should "move to France" or form a country
That's fine with me. But this is the original CRADLE OF LIBERTY, and yet the fundies dishonor us by ignoring and castigating our New England "values".

5. Ah, my past and my present collide
New England born and raised by God! And proud of my boys and girls I am.

It is currently my misfortune to be "represented" by John "Horse's Ass" Cornyn of Texas. Hey, Half-Wit! The moment you can explain to me how "gay marriage" will "erode" my family in any way (apart from taking away our special financial advantages) I'll worry about the "menace!"

(Last night this city was a damn hive of meetings to watch some marching orders video about the menance a-comin' their way! so, yeah, I'm a bit pissed....)
