15. Here's another suggestion:

Stop Buying Crap. (Especially gas!) Don't Buy anything you don't have to. Their precious capitalist economy that keeps Bush's .001 Percenters so happy depends on millions of compliant little consumers. If we can't have a democratic, representative gov't, I say we take our god-damn ball (and our money) and go home.

I mean this in addition to protesting and generally going ape-shit.

Work stoppages. Strikes. Buy nothing. No need to drive to work - won't be going to work. Plant gardens. Take to the hills. Live off the land.

Go stand in front of the White House with millions of other Americans. Don't leave when the porta-potties overflow. Stay there for weeks. They can't shoot all of us.

24. The Fist thing to do is.........
..stop thinking 'if', and start thinking 'when'.

Then snow your Reps with e-mails, faxes, phone calls and letters demanding that they nip any such plans in the bud.
If you wait until November to take action you'll be too late.......and the US will be officially on the 'rogue state' list.

29. I appreciate the advice.
There are of course different ways of working for change. Where I grew up, in Lexington, Massachusetts, we were constantly reminded of the old-fashioned response to tyranny. Sometimes that works. Sometimes not. But it's an honorable tradition.

Remember that the British in India has someplace to go. The British in America (our home-grown fascists) have nowhere else to go. Appealing to their sense of fairness and respect for morality is a bet for a sucker.

Once the Fascists see that they can completely ditch the election with only a tiny amount of resistance (which will of course not be discussed in the media) you who are left will face a massive shitstorm. You have my best wishes ! But I don't choose to live in a dictatorship.

37. Absolutely.
There's nothing fascists love more than violence directed at them. It gives them all the ammo they need to repress even more. No, the best way to win - at least at this time - is to be firm, resolute, fearless, and peaceful.

Edited on Mon Jul-12-04 11:13 PM by gtrump
...by citizens who are corralled like cattle miles away from the object of their protests...

...by legitimate voters who are not allowed to cast their votes because of electoral manipulation by the power elite...

...by any protester in NYC at the Republican convention who is pushed far away from the Center of Evil...

RUSH the bastards - KNOCK down the barricades - GET IN THEIR FACE and let them know with a loud shout that WE ARE NOT AFRAID*

addendum: * I advocate doing this in a NONVIOLENT WAY; destruction only leads to more destruction and just gives the bastards more excuses to take away our freedoms.

If we don't have the courage to defend our democracy, we don't deserve to have one.

47. I will raise four divisions...
...of citizen-arresters and go wherever he is and arrest his murderous, thievin' ass. The charges? High crimes and misdemeanors, of course. We will then find a duly-authorized judge to hear his arraignment, deny bail, and determine that he should be held in jail until his trial. The elections will then be held after giving his party time to field a new candidate. Cheney wouldn't be a good choice because he'd lose and/or he might find himself under the jail, too. Why not a couple of simple summary executions in the field? Because we like due process, that's why.

48. I'll sit back and watch the show.
Like George Carlin said the other day on Air America, they got all the guns and bombs and all the levers of power. If something happens and they cancel elections, do you honestly think they will tolerate thousands of furious protesters descending on the streets of every city??? What remains of the National Guard will be called out along with all the cops, and you can bet people will get shot- and shot- and shot- and the ones who don't get shot will get locked up- and there will still be no elections. Protests don't work anymore except to make those of us who protest feel better. Those in power laugh and scoff at us, don't they. Oh yeah, and now the media aids and abets.

Let's just see how the convention plays out. I'm excited that Ron Reagan is going to speak and I look forward to the whole process getting underway. It's been a very depressing year.

52. They can't cancel the elections because their lives depend on it, yet
they must cancel the elections because their lives depend on it. The end is coming for Bush&Co and there is nothing they can do about it. Everything they do backfires on them.

The best way to handle Bush&Co if they cancel the election is to have a peaceful, nationwide strike. Taking up arms will not defeat them, but if everyone refused to work the powers behind Bush&Co would dump him in a NY minute... this may already be in the works.

The only way America can be restored to what it was before Bush&Co is to apologize to the world and send the entire cabal to the Hague. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Ashcroft and their underlings MUST be put in prison for life. Nothing short of this will satisfy.
