"Alliance for marriage" speaking on Cspan now
Many of the members are African American.

It makes me sad that they don't see the similarities between their struggles and gay couple's struggles.

2. Would MLK Jr. have supported the FMA?
I ask myself this question, and I still don't know.

3. MLK would
not have supported this issue. I was 8 years old when MLK came to the university where my dad taught (a small conservative methodist university) where i eventually went to college. It was a tense time in early 1968 but the message and inspiration was incredible. I am working on converting the LP that my dad has into a CD. MLK believed in all people (though the homosexual issue was hidden at that time), I believe he would not want them to be stigmatized.

4. He did believe in the goodness of all men
He is my inspiration for how I try to live my life, and my inspiration for my own political beliefs.

7. He was before my time
My father was 18 when he was killed, but his speeches are recorded for the ages.

He was a poet for righteousness. That's how I think of him.

"Like anybody, I would like to live a long life; longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And he's allowed me to go up to the mountain, and I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land." (Memphis, Tennessee, April 3, 1968)

8. Sam Brownback was speaking there
He's as bad as Santorum.

I also wonder how Santorum was elected from that state as well.
