great quote by the NAACP about spineless Democrats
"(NAACP Chairman Julian) Bond criticized Democrats as well, complaining they are too often 'not an opposition; they're an amen corner. With some notable exceptions, they have been absent without leave from this battle for America's soul. When one party is shameless, the other party cannot afford to be spineless.'"

4. "Ouch" is right. Sizzle....ssssssssssss.
And I'm a regular Democrat, not particularly progressive, not too far to the left of center. But I was SHOCKED when Congress gave * sole authority for war. I remember when I heard they'd passed that resolution. I was walking through the den, where the TV was on. I stopped dead in my tracks upon hearing it'd passed. "I don't believe it," I said. I knew in my gut that giving ONE PERSON sole authority to wage war was NOT a good thing. That is NOT what this country is about. Furthermore, I didn't trust *, so I thought to give that authority to him was foolish. I hoped for the best....but we all know what happened after that. Bush picked up the ball and ran with it....straight to Iraq. (Well, HE didn't; others did it for him, while he stayed in his safe cocoon.)

5. How true, how true!
At least we are showing some signs of life now--at long last. Still not enough, but better than the bowing in reverence going on before.
