You know? This trial balloon of "election postponement" might energize |
|
people who have never cared enough to vote. Nothing energizes you more than the prospect of losing something you feel entitled to. What do you think.

1. I think they are preparing us now to make us used to the idea of |
|
postponing the election. Hoping that with four months to get adjusted, we might not riot in the streets. As far as I am concerned, they are way off the mark. People will fight for the right to vote. I am certain of it. deb http://www.votewhileyoustillcan.com

2. I hope your right but..... |
|
I feel that if people didn't riot when the last election was stolen, then they won't riot when the next one is canceled.
I think the bush team knows this and is counting on it too.
I hope I am wrong.

3. I'm afraid I disagree with you. |

If they scare the shit out of people, they won't venture out to vote. People will hope for the best and assume that the election will ultimately take place. People will not want to believe that their government has become so wantonly evil.

people will demonstrate and if that is cast as a riot, so be it. We need to put the tea back in the Boston harbor or this administration will never take ALL the voters seriously. Its about time they did.

5. The standard Bush trial balloon goes thus: |
|
Step #1 Propose something clearly outrageous and unacceptable -- in this case the executive branch being empowered to cancel the election of its own possible replacement.
Step #2 Wait for the uproar.
Step #3. Propose something that reaches the same ends as the original, or nearly so, but by other, less controversial means. Settle for 75% of all hell breaking loose, in other words. I expect some mechanism that gives the power to move elections to Congress (Rep. Senate, Rep. House) and its leaders.
Step #4 Nation breaths a sigh of relief, that such a crazy idea as the original was ever floated, and gratefully swallows the substitute.
Step #5 Bush now has what he wanted all along, plus the benefits of appearing 'thoughtful', and 'statesmanlike'.
This cycle has happened on every tax cut. The Junta have it down to a science.
