Cheney faces indictments in US and France
http://www.tbrnews.org/Archives/a992.htm

snip - Imminent indictments by the US and France, will force Dick Cheney to resign as VP, citing "health reasons," before the Republican convention and a frenetic search for a new VP candidate is already underway.

A confidential White House Counsel report warns that Cheney has violated both the “spirit and intent” of Federal Conflict of Interest laws, and that pending indictments from a French court will have “serious legal implications.”

Bush’s “brain” faces international charges for bribery, money laundering and misuse of corporate assets while serving as CEO of Halliburton, according to French governmental sources, who have been conducting a long-term investigation.

Back in the US, Dick “Ball &” Cheney will also be charged with illegally intervening in arranging a $7 billion no-bid contract for his former employer (Halliburton), while serving as VP. And, the SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission) is investigating Cheney’s $180 million "slush fund" that he may have employed to pay bribes.

not sure how relevant this website is.....but was wondering - could this be the earth shattering news that Josh Marshall mentioned????????

3. As much as I would like to see 'ole FU in jail
I am already puking at the thought of the media apologists "Oh poor Georgie, he had no idea of it all". God that makes me sick to think about it. I will have to confine myself completely to Sienfeld and Mash reruns, and read a lot until November.

5. Yeah, I'd love to see Chimp use the
Ken Lay defense. "Hear no evil, see no evil..." and all that rot.

7. The headlines will read:

"Beloved honest humble VP framed by France"!

"France declares war on VP"!
Bush makes pre-emptive stike on Paris....

They can spin anything.

8. Cheney leaving the ticket is BAD for us anyhow...
...I was looking at some polling data from PollingReport.com, and they had Kerry/Edwards up against a slew of hypothetical Bush/So and So match-ups... Bush was leading in EVERY poll (one paired with Powell, one paired with McCain, etc.) EXCEPT for the true ticket... Bush/Cheney. Kerry/Edwards led fairly well in that match up. If they pull the ol' switch-a-roo with us, that may HURT and hurt BAD. That being said, Bush wouldn't have a CLUE as to how to do ANYTHING without Unka Dick there, so that'd be interesting...

9. When he first took office, nothing was announced about his divesture
(or lock box or whatever they call it) in Hallibruton stock. Months into his office, he admitted that he had hung onto the stock - it was perhaps 10 months before something was done. I remember many other P's and VP's who took care of that little conflict of interest on the day they were sworn in or before. It was the same deal with Paul ONeill.
