Richard Holbrooke paid tweety the highest of compliments tonight
He compared him to Jon Stewart!

almost fell off couch

did anyone else see that?

does that say all that needs to be said about the sad sad state of "journalism" thezedaze?

so catch the rerun tonight at 11 EDT

about 15 minutes in; about the beginning of holbrooke/s appearance

hope the Daily Show, or Olberman, cues it up

2. He wasn't comparing Tweety...
he was talking about a film clip of Bush that they had put together saying the same thing over and over.
He also got in a good dig - said he liked coming on Tweety's show because Tweety always answered his own questions.

3. tweety then went after Holbrooke as agressively
Edited on Tue Jul-13-04 09:04 PM by buycitgo
as he ever has, not letting go of the question regarding why Kerry won't admit that, knowing what he knows now about all the misleading pre IWR evidence, he/d have changed his vote

Holbrooke, to his credit, said one of the reasons he likes being on his show was that Chris like to answer the questions he asks his guest

he basically laughed him off, then carefully, flawlessly (better than Kerry usually does) explained that Kerry voted ONLY to give Bush a stronger bargaining hand against Saddam, by giving him a credible option of use of force.

very smooth, and he laughed off Chris' aggressive questioning

exactly the way to handle these geebs: laugh in their faces as you slap them with the truth

4. Tweety compared to J S
It was a tung in cheek thing but he also told him he keep asking questions and answering them himself not giving anybody a chance to answer.

6. I realize that, but the point is that it's in the AIR
people realize it

people like RICHARD fricking HOLBROOKE!

now that's a meme I can live with

maybe if other journalists stive to be taken for a FAKE journalist, they might aspire to actually performing their obligations as members of the fourth estate

right?

10. I dunno, but Holbrooke bitch slapped Couric and Gingrich this am..
and made for a very fine start for the day!

I'd love to see him every morning, if it were possible.

He's a breath of fresh air compared to the jaded journalists seen every morning on the Today Show. I timed (almost) relevant news this morning..it amounted to 11 min..

Holbrooke was askd by Couric wht he thought of Bush's job so far with Iraq. He said he was disappointed like everyone else there never was a plan in place after 5.03. As soon as he mentioned the untold deaths of Iraqi civilians and almost 1000 of our own, Katie jumped ship and played a clip of Kerry's opinion of nuclear proliferation in N.Korea.

Holbrooke didn't missed a beat with the topic change up, he not only straightened her a** out about when the break occurred and why the NKs need nuclear reactors but did take the opportunity to blurt out Bush's lie about NK..Then the cut away to Gingrich, who was lavished with at least 60 sec to meander empty rhetoric until his comments were blatantly nonsensical. Holbrooke stepped up and in the end, Gingrich acquiesced in full agreement with Holbrooke.

13. Holbrooke's cue was Tweety showing the clip of President Stupid today,
saying "America is safer", like six times(+?) during a speech, over and over.

Prescient, Holbrooke was, since Jon tonight showed the same thing, maybe more instances. Really funny. It was "your moment of Zen" tonight.

Great show, left coasters.
