O'Reilly found a creative way to run a * campaign ad w/o giving equal time
Tonight on The O'Reilly Factor he had a "news item" about Scott Petersen's mother supposedly being upset with a Bush re-election TV ad slamming Kerry's stance on "The Laci Law."

Now, instead of just STATING this, O'Reilly ran the full TV spot. The ad is a non-stop anti-Kerry barrage, and the Peterson reference happens in the blink of an eye. The only thing O'Reilly cut was "I'm George W. Bush and I approve of this message." That would have made it a "commercial," I guess.

O'Reilly talked to the two reporters Fox has stationed in Redwood City at the Petersen trial and they "confirmed that Scott's mother is upset."

SO...Fox got to run a full Bush re-election TV commercial without giving equal time to Kerry, under the guise of it being a "news item," and I would expect more of this as November approaches.

Catch the repeat broadcast in 45 minutes if you're interested.

Say "oink," Karl.

1. FOX News is a 24/7 campaign infomercial for Bush
I'm not surprised.

4. Yep. Every time I flip through Fox, it's a barely disguised Bush ad
Damndest thing I've ever seen. An entire network devoted to sticking their collective nose up that man's ass.

His ass must be bigger than it looks.

7. Do you suppose it's big enough to hide our missing treasury.
Perhaps a cavity search is in order.

2. Kerry's response ...

Kerry's response should be that Bush was to busy campaigning for re-election in a school classroom to defend our nation against attack. Don't fault Kerry for having to be out of Washington to run for president.

5. Ouch!
Well, as I live here in Scotty-world, I have to say that I feel sorry for that poor woman. What that prick she brought into this world has put her through, I wouldn't wish on a member of the Bush administration.

Scotty: Yeah, Mom, could you get a bigger, more pathetic looking oxygen tank to wheel around for the reporters and spend more time out there fighting for breath while you talk to them? It helps me look more, uhh, innocent.

Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. I can't wait for him to go to prison and make some new friends.

8. They do That All The Time.......
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 07:33 AM by stewert
It's not just O'Reilly, fox does that crap all the time. But you never see them running Kerry ads and calling them a news story. If they do show part of a Kerry ad it's to call him a liar and try to discredit him.

P.S. O'Reilly also said he would not do scott peterson stories, then he went on to cover it every fricking night.

11. What makes you think they have to give equal time?
The Fairness Doctrine was thrown out by Reagan and since then there is no desire for fairness on the Propaganda circuit.
