If Military Success In Iraq is Good For George W Butcher... |
|
...and his chances for re-selection--- and subsequently bad for our country, then shouldn't we, as good citizens, cheer for the Iraqi Resistance over the US Armed Forces? Serious questions demand serious responses.

...but, let's examine the realities here, okay? If 'Butcher's' Generals are able to suppress hostilities for a span of two months leading up to November, it's probable all those undecideds will vote for him. A gargantuan task, for sure, but possible.

Abstract pondering of ethical utilitarianism is one thing, but to actually hope that innocent kids are killed in the vague hope that it may be bad for Bush* goes beyond the acceptable range of opinion in this or really any other country. That kind of mentality borders on being sociopathic, which isn't terribly uncommon and probably means you have a bright future ahead of you if you can steer clear of jail, but it is absolutely repugnant to the vast majority of people. If you do think that way, then for God's sake don't post it on a public board. This isn't a private conversation your having with friends who know you and like you, your basically announcing to the world that you're happy when American soldiers die. If nothing else please think of the political implications of the results of your actions. Even Kissinger knew to keep his mouth shut when the cameras were on,(well, he never said what the truly felt, at any rate).

6. NO! NO! NO!!!! A serious response: |

I don't know what you are nor why you choose to post this, but a quick answer.
First off, even if I WAS inclined to agree with you, which I'm NOT, the actual nuts and bolts of what such "rooting" (yech! I can't even say that without a bitter grimace and NOT for the reasons you think, I'm sure) would entail, our soldiers who, whatever else they did also volunteered to serve, a now doubly dirty and dangerous job.
They have been misused themselves, lied to just as we.
To "root" for them to get blown up by the Resistance EVEN INDIRECTLY is UNACCEPTABLE!
And horrible. I am rooting that our guys and gals will come home safe, and that the killing will stop (or at least slow down) and that the Old American Republic will be restored to health and vigor.

7. i guess i'm more curious than reverential... |
|
...and besides, I have no kin or friends at risk in that one-sided affair. I never support troops, anywhere, ever, unless they're defending the lives of their people in a popular struggle ---but, I think the only people who probably should support them are their relatives and friends... which, to my mind, leaves a whole lot of people with no dog in the fight.
Let this thread die if it's going to gack off too many people.

and I'm hiding this thread.
Our troops didn't ask to go, moron. They are there because of our (or should I say your) supremely idiotic brainless leader. Your post is bullshit. Yeah, let's let this thread die so you can report back to your homies that you didn't get the results you wanted.
Buh-bye.

why not express your opinions first, after all you ask a rather provacative , inflammatory, and frankly rather obviously stupid question, and then let us have a stab at it?
What exactly is YOUR position on your glee seeing American soldiers being killed by Iraqi insurgents in order to have it weaken George W. Butcher's hold on the White House?
How old are you anyways, and are you a right wing plant?
Hmmm?

Is only achieved through killing hordes of Iraqis. Even if this was to be seen as a success by Bush standards, it would also bring more 'wedding party' footage and Al-Jazeera would have a plenty to fill the airwaves with bloody pictures, giving ammunition the the 'baby killer' allegations.
Not being American I have no special feelings for your boys and girls in Mesopotamia, but I can assure you that the hopes and wishes of bulletin board posters are unlikely to affect their fate. Bringing them home sooner than later is the only way to support a longer and happier life for the troops.
Support the troops, stop the unlawful occupation!

Not just in Iraq, but here at home. Should we hope that the US remains mired in recession or should we hope that things begin to boom and jobs rapidly appear to help people even though that would help the re-election of W?
