Santorum: "Defending marriage is the ultimate homeland security!"
His future opponents should use this quote from Drama Queen to highlight his real priorities in protecting our "homeland".
-------

"I would argue that the future of our country hangs in the balance because the future of marriage hangs in the balance," said Sen. Rick Santorum, a leader in the fight to approve the measure. "Isn't that the ultimate homeland security, standing up and defending marriage?"

23. Those Who Yell The Loudest...
Have something to hide.

I truely believe the Santorums, the Tom DeLays of the world, et al are gay and in the closet.

All Santorum's yelling is over-compensation to the max.

34. Just When I Thought My Senator Frist Was The Most
bumbling tool in Karl Rove's toolbox, Santorum comes on and outdoes him. Frist was actually a good man until he was recruited by the Repugs. He did a lot of good things as a surgeon. It saddens me to see his bumbling attempts at being a politician trying to jump when Karl says jump. It's pathetic.

Please pick up the white courtesy clue phone - the future of the country has NOTHING do to with ANY form of marriage.

Remember Reverend Fuckface's infamous comment after 09/11 about gay people, feminists, the ACLU and pro-choice people causing 09/11?

26. no no you have it a little wrong
and it's a key point. He never said the VLWC caused 9/11, but that our tolerance led to God removing his sphere of protection from the US which let the terrorists do it.

see? a difference.

8. Reminds me of Phil Gramm and his line of laughable bullshit
At one point in the 1990s he was maundering at great length on the floor of the Senate, blathering that what America needed was "full-time families and part-time government."

Some Democrat (whose name escapes me) jumped up and asked if the gentleman from Texas would prefer a part-time Marine Corps, or a part-time FBI. Gramm (R - Asshat) didn't say too much after that.

11. Would you repeat that to the relatives of Mark Bingham, Mr. Santorum?
You remember, he was one of the heroes who rushed the terrorists on Flight 93, and may have saved your sorry ass?

Santorum is literally claiming that it would have been worse for Mark Bingham to marry someone he loved than for that plane to strike the Capitol?

15. The Bushists are so fucking nuts.
They just mix and match their sales pitches to whatever it is they want to do. We had to cut taxes because there was a surplus, then because there was not a surplus, then because there's a war on. Etc.

Bushists are liars, thieves, and idiots.

"the future of our country hangs in the balance..."

In other words: Gay-Marriage is WORST than any terrorist attack. Gays are terrorists

22. Yeah, Rick
what we need is to have Rush, Guiliani, and Newt defend the sanctity of marriage at the Republican convention. After all, they only have 9 marriages between the three of them and only 7 divorces (Limpdik's 3rd divorce is pending)!

25. I called Santorum's office and here's what I said (in my SWEETEST voice)
I called TOLL FREE, by the way. See my sig line.

I said that I was glad the Marriage DISCRIMINATION Amendment was defeated.

I said that I, as a straight woman, did NOT feel my marriage to my husband was AT ALL threatened because my gay friend wanted to marry her partner - and that I was dreadfully sorry that Santorum's own marriage (?!) was SO threatened by that. I added that this said a LOT more about Santorum's marriage than it could possibly say about MINE.

I then said I hoped that if Santorum cares so much about morality, he would show some true leadership in asking his president to stop being such a liar.

Then I sweetly thanked the staffer for taking my call, and hoped she would pass it on to the Senator.

27. You know....
in some societies a guy like this would be eaten. Cannabilism might become the new plank on the American party platform!

I've been married for over 20 years. At times our marriage has only be threatened by one thing--us! To think we kept it going only to be ruined by the gays. All this fidelity in vain.

29. Welcome to DU!
If any cannibal was hungry enough to try to eat this guy, the cannibal would wind up spitting him back out, or having hours of serious indigestion. My marriage, too, has only been threatened by the idiocy of him and/or me. And we're at Year-28 - and still counting.

31. Well now here is the really odd part
If a Senator has the magic secret about what breaks marriages apart, i.e. immorality, I wonder how far away from me I have to boot our neighbors next door who divorced. Or how much distance to keep from my clients, often people who have major morality / responsibility issues.

Is it just their sex acts these people don't like? I have a hard time understanding that given the fact that heterosexaul couples can do everything the gays can and generally do. So, what am I missing here?

Thank you for the welcome

28. Really, I would move to PA
Just to vote against him.

But then, I'd have to make stops in Tenn for Frist and Colorado for Allard and then I'd just get tired and I don't think my partner.... I mean, wife, would really be overjoyed at all the moving.

So, instead, I'll just revel in the fact that these people are so unhappy with themselves that they have to bash the hell out of others.

I guess that "death knell" they predicted yesterday just didn't ring loud enough to even get a simple majority on this waste of legislative time.

Protect us from crazed religious fundamentalists abroad who hate gays, than to enshrine into the constitution the agenda of our own crazed religious fundamentalists.. who also hate gays.

sorry, I posted this before, but he's earned it twice:
