Short film documents Kerry's 1972 loss
By Brian C. Mooney, Globe Staff | July 14, 2004

Here's the story line: One of President George W. Bush's leading fund-raisers launches a film-producing career with a minidocumentary about Senator John F. Kerry, premiering the film less than four months before Kerry and Bush face off in the November election.

A Republican version of "Fahrenheit 9/11" -- Michael Moore's polemic about Bush?

Hardly. Christopher F. Egan's new film, "Eclipsed by The Sun -- The Political Education of John Kerry," is a pretty straightforward account of Kerry's ill-fated 1972 congressional campaign in the Massachusetts Fifth Congressional District.

The film will premiere to an invitation-only audience at Loews, Boston Common theater on Thursday, July 22, a week before Kerry accepts the Democratic presidential nomination at the party's convention in Boston. Egan said he is in discussion with national networks and local television about a commercial airing.

But we're "fair & balanced" here, so:

2. Networks won't show the Dem convention but find time for a 1972 campaign
feature?

Surely they could have dug up an hour of footage featuring the search for Bush's National Guard records in FULL. Or at least interview all those in the Alabama Air National Guard who NEVER SAW BUSH at the time he said he served.
