Why would you vote Republican?

DO YOU THINK BIG BUSINESS NEEDS ANY MORE HELP!!!????

Recently I’ve had some success with this approach when talking to some of the youngsters in our group who are still ambivalent about the whole political system and whether or not to vote.

One guy in the office actually responded …”yeah, we don’t need to have the fox watch the hen house do we”.

They know for instance Microsoft doesn’t need any help from the government to make 100s of billions a year for years into the future.
They have a sense that our capitalistic system is doing just fine….and in most respects “above the government” in the way it conducts business.

What these kids don’t know is that capitalism ran just fine with a 70% tax on the upper eschelon….even at 50% we were capable of sustaining programs without excessive debt. But they really don’t care about such details.

With everyone evolving into a neurotic post 911 workaholic/struggler to survive….we really need a compelling simple concept to understand.

So why in God’s name DO WE NEED GOVERNMENT behind big business?

Will tax breaks to individuals and corporations finally reach a cataclysmic point in which we FINALLY get enough extra profits to allow employees to have secure retirements and health care?

Sound too simple of a theory?
I’ve been searching for a more relevant “bumper sticker” mentality lately. I’m not very satisfied with the “Anyone but Bush” sticker on my car….or the “Bush/Cheney 2004”…4 MORE WARS sticker.

You have to admit…we Democrats aren’t very good in the bumper sticker department.

So it’s a bit long….but my bumper sticker would read….

DOES BIG BUSINESS REALLY NEED HELP FROM THE GOVERNMENT?

Truth is, most Americans know in the back of their mind that they’re getting shafted. It is absolutely astounding that today the republican party still has a 40% core vote when you consider the degradation in our work environment in terms of health care and retirement. But unfortunately….we all know how they suckered people with abortion, anti-gun, and other BS moral issues.

In other words...wake up America....our guys in charge have transformed OUR GOVERNMENT into a business.... a BUSINESS ON TOP OF A BUSINESS.

Reagan sunk us with one phrase….”it’s your money….you earned it….so you deserve to keep it”. Thus the age of greed and runaway capitalism….all intent on profits for the sake of profits was born….AND sanctified though adornment of GROWTH.

You know that whole is bad enough....but now we have the freakin NEOCONS in charge to boot!!

It’s now time for the Democrats to unearth a wonderful counter to that line of bullshit that will resonate with people. Truth is….there really is NO need AT ALL for the Republican party…....quite realistically.....especially after 20 years of sucking profits to the top of the heap. Our capitalistic system can run itself just fine without help from the government. They can go home...

THEY'VE DONE THEIR JOB!!!!

Something along those lines. We need to convey the simple sense that there really is NO NEED for the Republicans anymore. Look at exactly what we DON'T need from the neocons....

1. Improved morals - and social order (don't stop me from laughing)
2. Improved defense - you ain't gonna put a DENT in our military industrial complex...that also runs itself.
3. More growth - for what? The growth is going to the top anyway.

Maybe that's another possibility for a sticker....

Thanks George...we are in control of the world now.
You can go home now.

3. If left on it's present course.....
in other words....WITHOUT addition recommended tax breaks....

Hell they're just getting prepared to go from 35% to 28% and then to a flat tax....

But if left the way it is NOW....the rich would literally own the entire country in 35 years....that's what I've read.

6. People do think they're getting the shaft, but...
...many of them also think that it's the fault of the liberals and the welfare cheats. Rush tells them so. And that's that.
