Terrorism and the Election: California is the Target!
Terrorism and the Election: California is the Target! No postponement, just bedlam at the polls and a low turnout on the west coast is Bush's plan for 'victory' -- by Wayne Madsen "If the pre-election internal tracking polls and public opinion polls show the Kerry-Edwards ticket leading in key battleground states, the Bush team will begin to implement their plan to announce an imminent terrorist alert for the West Coast for November 2 sometime during the mid afternoon Pacific Standard Time. At 2:00 PST, the polls in Kentucky and Indiana will be one hour from closing (5:00 PM EST – the polls close in Indiana and Kentucky at 6:00 PM EST)." http://www.legitgov.org/essay_madsen_terrorism_and_california_071404.html

4. Given the fact that Bush is about as popular as Herpes out here...

It's gonna take more than a terrorist attack to keep us from voting against that ass-clown.

3. Despite the fact that I find this very plausible
what exactly are we supposed to do about it? It's speculation and does anyone think that elected officials are going to buy it?

5. That would do them no good at all
Given the Electoral College we only have to win those states. Even if only one person casts a vote in each state it is enough for us to win.

6. I still don't understand what that's supposed to accomplish.

So they suppress the vote in California. Big deal- California still has the same number of electoral votes, no matter how many people show up at the polls.

9. But if the CA Electoral Votes are not counted
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 04:46 PM by happyslug
Than Bush only needs the majority of 480 Electoral Votes (The total of 535 less CA's 55 Votes). Thus Bush will need only 241 votes to win instead of 268. If Bush loses Ohio and West Virginia (But Carries the rest of the state leaning his way) he wins the election IF HE CAN KEEP CALIFORNIA'S Electoral VOTE OUT OF THE ELECTION DO TO THE "EMERGENCY" (He loses if CA's votes are counted).

For how the states are leaning (and some fun with the votes) See:

http://www.uselectionatlas.org/USPRESIDENT/evcalc.php?year=2004
http://www.uselectionatlas.org/

Remember it is the Majority of Electoral votes CASTED not the Majority of Electoral Votes. This was one of the problems with Florida in 2000, if Florida's Electoral Votes was not counted, Gore had more Electoral Votes than Bush and Gore would have been President. "Civil Unrest" In California may last so long that California NEVER gets a chance to cast its vote and its 55 Electoral Votes will NOT be counted and Bush wins even if Bush loses West Virginia and Ohio.

11. We can even have more fun
No vote permitted do to "unrest" in ALL THREE PACIFIC STATES. That is 77 Votes not Counted. The Majority needed is than 230 Votes, and Bush can than lose not only West Virginia (5 Votes) but Ohio (20) and North Carolina (15 Votes) and still win if the Three Western States do not get a chance to vote.

7. As a CA resident:
" Therefore, the recipe of a White House-induced California terrorist alert and a low Democratic turnout could toss 54 electoral votes into Bush’s lap, especially if the scare tactics affect the turnout in such urban and typically pro-Democratic vote-rich areas as Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Sacramento."

This isn't going to happen. Come heller high water, Bush isn't going to win California. To quote the idiot boy-usurper himself, "Take it to the Bank"

12. sunny. i realize youre very new here but this is the 2nd time today that
you have written that someones post was "nonsense" and suggesting they take it somewhere else. you may not agree with what people are posting here, but i do ask sincerely to please have consideration for all. there is open debate always encouraged here at du (im pretty new here myself), but please have some consideration. you are perfectly free to respond to any post you want, but why is it necessary to come here and shout someone out.

some people are scared, some people are trying to speak out in the wilderness sometimes, and some want to share what they are hearing in their state or community etc.

this morning, you had only 3 posts to your name, and you said in a thread for someone to stop with all their nonsense and to turn their tv off if they dont like something they have seen, when all that was posted was a copy of a letter emailed to cnn pertaining to their slanted online content though the daily show was mentioned as the only worthwhile "news" show on.... perhaps thats why you made the tv comment, i dont know.
anyway

if you dont like what someone has written, perhaps you could ignore the post. or another option is to give constructive feedback.

if you need to rant, thats ok too. theres the lounge for non political talk, or if you want to express anger or frustration about the content of what someone has written, then i understand, lots of people do that and its needed. but it just seems in what ive seen of you today, you dont attack the argument of whats presented, but rather that it is presented at all.

all of us have bad days, esp of late. i understand. i just ask that you try to be more considerate to all those in this great party that you have joined.

i do hope i have been considerate of your feelings here. if ever i am not , please do let me know. and a true welcome to DU. its a great place.

16. I'll crawl to the polls
if I have to, NOTHING will stop me from voting while there is breath in my body and maybe I will vote absentee so that even if I'm dead I will still have cast a vote for Kerry.
