Ditka describes himself as "ulta-ultra-ultra conservative"
Edited on Wed Jul-14-04 05:18 PM by geek tragedy

<snip>

DH: ...If you decide to run, what would be your platform?

DITKA: Well my platform would be what the people want. I hate to say that, that sounds so generic, but what do people want? You talk about banning smoking. Okay, why don't we ban abortion? Let's talk about things that are really important. You know you talk about, well, you think one thing can harm your health, the other one takes a life.

Come on here, you know you're talking to a guy that is ultra-ultra-ultra conservative. So you know people who don't like that, you won't like me one bit. But I think I'm about what the majority of this people in the country are. I believe this country was founded under God. I think people who say it wasn't are crazy. But that's their biz; you know, that's me.

What you see is what you're gonna get. You're not going to like all of it. But you're gonna like some of it, and maybe you'll like enough of it to say okay this guy is all right.

1. Ditka's IQ has to be at LEAST 87
Dude is an OK coach...but not exactly a nuanced thinker.

He's smart enough to understand the game and stupid enough to think that it's important.

20. Yes, I do
If you check out his history, he's had a plan beyond the weightlifting since he was very young. He's a very shrewd businessperson, and knew when it was wise to avoid running for governor and when it was wise to run.

The funny accent and cheeseball film career of late can fool people into thinking he's dumb.

However, his comments out a big problem in the US, that a jerk offs like this believe that they know the "truth" and that "a majority" feels the same way they do. The guy is full of shit.

I don't really want him getting that close to the senate, even if it is just in name only. ;-)

Of course, they'd have to perform at the debates, or the whole thing's off!

We could make giant DITKA SUX banners out of white sheets and wave them them at the debates.

BlueJay could take off his shirt and paint himself blue, wear an afro wig (after getting extremely intoxicated on bourbon, of course), and scream "woooooooo!!!!!", every time the camera panned over him.

I still have to think of something for mkuhl & XNASA to do, but I'm sure it will come to me, given time.

23. According to this yokel, his resume is polar opposite
of the chimpster...

"Mike Ditka would be a great candidate because he represents the average Illinoisan. He's just a decent, ordinary guy that worked hard and wasn't handed anything but made it successful"

--State Sen. Dave Syverson of Rockford, a member of the Republican State Central Committee

Would love to hear him expand on his "this country was founded under God" assertion.

26. He's a big talker with little substance...
When he was hired by the New Orleans Saints in the late 90's, both he & his out-spoken wife told reporters, "What you see is what you get."

This is what the Saints got:

There must have been something weird in the air on the weekend of the draft, as three men made monumentally bad decisions. One of the decisions I can almost understand, because it was made by a man whose judgment has long been flawed...

It was all set in motion when Saint head coach Mike Ditka traded his entire draft for this year, along with his first- and third-round picks next year, to the Redskins, moving up seven places in the first round to pick Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams.

(snip)

It was a mistake to hire Ditka in the first place, and the Saints are paying for that mistake...Ditka won in Chicago because he had great defensive players; a great defensive coordinator, Buddy Ryan; and an innovative quarterback, Jim McMahon. (It should also be noted that neither Ryan nor McMahon paid any attention to Ditka’s histrionics.)

(snip)

...Ditka has been exposed as just another out-of-touch coach in New Orleans, and now he’s been given added responsibility, which has allowed him to add another area of incompetence.

are a persons choice??? Im not really pro-either (or con either...I prefer to let someone choose what they want to happen to themselves...even though smoking affects more people than just yourself) but I sure as hell dont believe its something for some right wing senator wanna-be to decide.
