presumably hears answers in return. Funny i always thought that hearing voices came from two sources - delirium tremens or schizophrenia.

and said, 'am I not your faithful servant? Why do you allow the homosexuals to carry out their agenda? Why are the Iraqis allowed to put up such resistance to our liberation of them? Why was my nemesis Michael Moore allowed to show his movie in spite of our best efforts at censorship? Why does my opponent John Kerry continue to gain popularity in the polls'
God said, 'I don't know, Chimpy...there's just something about you that pisses Me off!'

5. No, its not a sign of insanity |
|
Delusions perhaps but not insanity. Insanity is indicitive of neurological damage. Hearing voices in your head is a learnable condition. Many sects and philosophies build upon this phenomena. While the matter is not settled it is arguable that this is simply a change of mental state in which the individual is conversing with their own inner voice and has for a number of possible reasons not identified it as self. They attribute this flow of consciousness as whatever culturally learned identity they have been taught. Buddhists feel they have become one with god, theists believe they are communing with god.
Dangerous but not insane.

dont you think his inability to reason, to speak in coherent sentences, coupled with the idiotic expression on his face, are indicative of neurological damage? Booze can do that to you.

But the hearing of voices alone is not indicitive of insanity. In Bush's case I lean towards mild epilepsy. There is a pronounced increase in the frequency of such "religious" experiences amongst epileptics. It would also explain the rumored seizures and medication.

But the fact is that this process is a normal part of the brains function. Whether it is an anamoly or an evolved function is certainly in question.

I would be very concerned but I would examine what he did based on what he believed god was telling him to do. If he believed god was telling him to promote belief in him at the expense of mine or other's rights I would drop him like a hot potato. If his conversations with god lead him to take actions that I found dangerous I would turn away from him.
I am a Democrat. I am an atheist. Most of the people around me believe in god. Many believe they talk to god. What makes them dangerous is not talking to god. It is what their own mind in the guise of god tells them to do. As a Democratic Atheist I sometimes vote for theists (actually I usually vote for theists as my choices are limited in this nation). I believe they have flawed systems of belief just as they believe I am mistaken. But I expect them to respect me with my beliefs as I respect them with their beliefs. If their beliefs lead them to honorable actions I can work with them. If not then I will oppose them.

Many people seem to accept that God would advocate invading another country but would Jesus advocate that? People say there is only one God-Mono-theism. What is the situation with there being a God and Jesus? Is Jesus not a God? Many people say that one must accept Jesus as their savior or they will not go to heaven. Isn't Jesus 2nd in charge of heaven? Accepting 1st in charge,God, as one's savior isn't going to deliver them into heaven?
