This ran in the Greensboro, NC
News and Record today. Boo-hoo.

I was very much dismayed and disappointed at the July Fun Fourth Parade to witness at the end such a display of anti-American sentiment. The parade had a wonderful beginning and I was moved by the veterans that came through and the patriotic bands, flag bearers, and celebration of our freedoms. However, when the "Not in our Name" group came through protesting and mocking our military, I was so disappointed. This was a parade in honor of our "independence" which was gotten only through much sacrifice and yes, even war.
This is a great nation and we cannot just sit idly by and let terrorists try and do away with the very freedoms that our veterans fought so hard for us to get and keep.
It was a shame for the city of Greensboro to let such an entry into the parade in the first place when its very focus is contradictory to what the parade was supposed to stand for. I realize they have freedom of speech and I do also. So I say to them: "You should be ashamed of choosing the Independence Day celebration as a venue for protesting the very thing that secures your freedoms today. Freedom is never free; it costs those veterans a lot and some of them their very lives, and we should be honoring them instead of disgracing them."
