A problem with fear

Just saw a movie by that name.

It's about, among other things, a company that manufactures fear.

Michael Moore's Bowling with Colombine talks about it as well.

Modern, North American, conservative society is about fear. They want everybody to be afraid.

RRR's are afraid of dying and the afterlife to come. Hence they get into religious addiction and standing on street corners screeching "Jesus saves".

Every time the Dubya administation gets in trouble, they up the threat level and start babbling about threats to public landmarks or the elections.

They want people to be afraid so they manufacture the fear.

Kerry and Edward's message is about hope. It scares the Repugs.

The result of compulsively thinking "what if."

Unless you are currently in grave danger, fear serves no purpose other than to emotionally paralyze. Even then, one's fight or flight instinct assess the threat and deems appropriate action.
