Alan Henry Wins Democratic Nomination for State Representative

Gettysburg, PA (YDAC) - Alan Henry has accepted the Democratic Nomination to run for State Representative for the 91st House District.


Henry won the nomination through a write-in effort in the April primary election despite a last minute attempt by the incumbent, Steve Maitland, to block the Democratic Party from having a candidate in the general election by attempting to get more Democrats to write him in than Alan Henry. Maitlaind failed in his attempt by a wide margin.

Henry's write-in tally of 318 votes against Maitland's 186 became official in May.

Henry, a 46-year old maintenance mechanic with Quebecor Printing in Fairfield and Vice President of the Cashtown Community Fire Department lives in Franklin Township with his wife, Marie. Together, they have five children and twelve grandchildren.

A past President of IUE Local 140, Henry successfully negotiated labor contracts for hundreds of union employees. The youngest President in the history of that local, he was elected to a record four consecutive terms.

More recently, he has served in numerous positions with the Cashtown Fire Department. Besides being a top five responder for both fire and E.M.S. for the past five years, he has taken leadership roles in the administration and fire sides of the department, including serving as an assistant Chief and Vice President.

Alan Henry describes himself as a Conservative Democrat who will take the issues head-on and not be just another face in the crowd.

"There are too many issues facing the state including education, property tax relief, and job creation to be wasting time on naming a state soil and a state dinosaur," said Henry, "It's time we start working together for a better Pennsylvania, and I will not be just another career politician like my opponent, and I guarantee that I will serve no more than twelve years."
