1. Scott Ritter stated in a lecture I attended before the war |

that the "confessions" they'd got on this case were obtained by torture. We don't allow those kind of confessions in the US because they're worthless, and that's all there is to say about the "Plot" against Poppy.

2. IMHO, the CIA WMD info was correct as noted in the classified... |
|
....National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) written by the CIA. This version had a great deal of "qualifying" language which made it very clear that the presence of Iraqi WMDs was very far from certain.
It was the unclassified version of the NIE that contained the more absolute statements that WMDs existed in Iraq. It is unclear as to who wrote this version, but I suspect the OSP had a very strong hand. This was the language adopted by FratBoy in his State of the Union address, and what Powell used in his speech to the UN.
As far as that "plot" to kill Poppy, I thought that was bogus from the word "go".

3. Scott Ritter and Intelligence Agencies |
|
I read an editorial by Ritter in which he said that there were doubts about a plot against Bush I in that the explosion happened 30 miles away from where Bush was at the time.
