Corrine Brown from FL got up and accused the Republicans leading the debate on the other side of participating in a "coup d'etat" in 2000. The guy responded by asking for her remarks to be "taken down," or stricken from the record. Now they're huddling to decide whether or not to strike her words.
They are now debating that!!

The cameras are owned and operated by the House and Senate. They wouldn't let C-SPAN use their own cameras. From Brian Lamb:
"In the early days, when Tip O'Neill started it up, he wouldn't let private cameras in for a lot of different reasons. The cameras in the chambers are owned and operated by the House or the Senate with taxpayers' money."

16. The chair ruled her remarks inappropriate by voice vote.... |
|
Ms. Brown asked to appeal, the chair again did a voice vote and, of course, the repubs drowned out the Dems and Ms. Brown asked for a recorded vote and that is what they are voting on now.

9. It about having the UN coming in an overseeing our election |
|
They are tabling the appeal of the ruling of the Chair that the words of Congresswoman Brown (FL) saying the the Republicans stole the election in Florida are not in order.
Taking Down the Words - Requiring that a member's remarks be read to the chamber so that the presiding officer may determine whether they are offensive or otherwise violate the rules of that house. When any member makes a point of order against such remarks and asks that the words be "taken down," the alleged violator must immediately sit down and await the chair's decision. If the words are ruled out of order, a motion may be offered to strike them from the debate to be published in the Congressional Record.
In the House, a member whose words have been ruled out of order may not speak again on the same day without the chamber's permission, but he or she may withdraw or modify those remarks by unanimous consent. In the Senate, the member may not speak again until another matter is taken up unless the Senate agrees to a motion that he or she be allowed to proceed in order. On rare occasions, the House has censured a member for objectionable remarks.
Prohibited remarks are variously characterized as improper, disorderly, objectionable, offensive, intemperate, or unparliamentary.

I talked to a very nice guy who said that she was there in the office now giving some news interviews. I told him that, although I'm from Michigan, I was proud of what she said and that we need more true leaders like her to voice what many of us know. He sounded very happy to hear from me.
