Who are the Worst US Representatives?
Who in the house of Reps is the worst?

I will go with my Rep, Tom Tancredo for being ineffective and one-issue on immigration. As well as that despicable letter he sent me defending Rumsfeld.

Also Marylin Musgrave for her anti-gay marriage ammendment.

10. I forgot about that nasty little woman.
A few years back I went to a hearing of one of the subcommittees of the House Commerce Committee. The topic was PBS, and the usual subcommittee crowd was there -- Billy Tauzin (R-LA), Ed Markey (D-MA), John Dingell (D-MI). Dingell in particular impressed me with his wonderfully laid-back way of eviscerating right-wing shills.

Anyway, Barbara Cubin got her underwear all in a twist because she'd discovered that local PBS stations had chosen to air a program on school districts' efforts to promote tolerance of gays. She proclaimed that we needed to "smack the heck out of" stations that were running said program.

So much for the vaunted GOP reverence for local control. Raise your hand if you want an ignorant, vindictive creature dictating what your local PBS station shows after 10:00 p.m.

Besides that, there's DeLay. :puke: :puke: :puke:

But Cubin is also worthy of mention.

41. Elizabeth Rogers is the Democratic opponent
Edited on Thu Jul-15-04 09:38 PM by 69KV
The liberal Repub. running against Hayworth is Roselyn O'Connell.

She doesn't have a chance, and I don't recommend anyone switch parties to the Repukes just to vote for her in the primary, but more power to her.

Worst representatives in Congress:

1. Virgil Goode (R-VA). Party switching formerly "Democratic" traitor, who is further to the right than even most other Repukes in Congress. Virgil Goode is the person responsible for getting the rider attached to No Child Left Behind, that requires schools to turn over school records to military recruiters.

2. Rick Renzi (R-VA..er..AZ). Carpetbagging poster boy for the National Security State. His dad is VP of Mantech International which makes computer equipment for the CIA and National Security Agency, and his rich daddy basically paid for his Arizona congress seat. He lives in Virginia and rented a house in Arizona six months before the election so he could claim Arizona residence. He has since defaulted on his rent payments.

3. George Nethercutt (R-WA). The guy responsible for Tom Foley losing his position as House Speaker. Nethercutt later broke his two-terms promise, and ran for a third term, which makes him a liar too. He's now running for U.S. Senate, which he will lose, but the good thing is he is giving up his House seat to run for Senate, and come November he won't be on Capitol Hill at all. See ya later George and take the other George with you when ya go!!

4. John Mica (R-FL). High-tech jobs in his own district outsourced overseas? Tough tooties, says John Mica. After all, he is one of the biggest promoters of outsourcing and downsizing that Congress has. This guy doesn't give a rat's you know what about his own constituents, and is the very epitome of "let them eat cake."

5. Trent Franks (R-AZ). Former one-term Arizona state representative and close pals of ex-AZ governor Evan Mecham. He won a seat in the U.S. Congress by accident two years ago. He's completely a one-issue person (anti abortion) and even most of his own party agree that he's nuts.

and last but definitely not least:

6. Tom DeLay (R-TX). No comment.

On edit: Does anyone remember a few years ago when the "worst" list would definitely have included Linda Smith (R-WA), Helen Chenoweth (R-ID), Sonny Bono (R-CA) and a few others? The more things change, the more they stay the same.,

12. DeLay, Musgrave - See my nice email to Musgrave within - it's GOOD!
"Hi,

I saw you on Larry King last night. I'm not gay, but the nicest people that I know are my aunt and her partner. My aunt is a former nun and nurse (she is retired now) and she helped my family out often when we were children. It pains me that she has to use "tricks" she learned as a nurse to visit her aging partner when she may be in the hospital. Never mind the hundreds of other rights she has to forgo... You came across as very dispassionate and unforgiving last night - my voice is hoarse from yelling at the top of my lungs "you're gonna burn in hell you fucking whore!!" - I yelled over and over again. I know it's a little over the top, but it is the type of feeling that I get when I see people casually dismissing the lives of some of our nicest and most dedicated citizens. In a way you likely will burn in hell as I believe that hell is here on earth and you will have to live with knowing that millions of people, just like me, passionately hate (I do not like to use this word - but you really deserve it) you now because you appear to be so incredibly cold - almost like you were being controlled by Satan. Sorry, but I see no salvation for you."

Colorado Springs is not a good area to run as a Democrat. I don't think he is going anywhere.

It makes me angry that there are so many of these idiots in my home state. Some of the reason I say such negative things about Colorado is because of people like this infesting my state.

40. NC's republican bunch!
U.S. Rep. Cass Ballenger (R) blames the breakup of his 50-year marriage partly on the stress of living near a leading American Muslim advocacy group... Another stress on their marriage: the decision by 'we holier-than-thou Republicans' in the House, Ballenger said, to ban gifts -- including meals and theater tickets from lobbyists -- that once meant 'a social life for (congressional) wives.'... Ballenger said in the post 9-11 environment in Washington, his wife, a homemaker, was anxious about all the activity at CAIR, including people unloading boxes and women 'wearing hoods,' or headscarves going in and out of the office building on New Jersey Avenue. 'That's 2 1/2 blocks from the Capitol,' he added, 'and they could blow it up.'

"You know, and this can be misconstrued, but honest to goodness (husband) Ed and I for years, for 20 years, have been saying, 'You know, look at who runs all the convenience stores across the country.' Every little town you go into, you know?"
- U.S. Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), who as the Charlotte Observer reported, "confided in a speech that she had been driving, worried, around the country for decades fueled by suspicions about Arab and Arab-looking convenience store owners." <2/7/03>

"They were an endangered species. For many of these Japanese Americans, it wasn't safe for them to be on the street... "Some (Japanese Americans) probably were intent on doing harm to us, just as some of these Arab Americans are probably intent on doing harm to us."
- U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-NC), who according to the AP "agreed with the World War II policy of confining Japanese -Americans to internment camps."
